When living alone, ever wonder who's going to know when you have passed?

My niece calls me everyday at nearly the same time. If she should miss a day, which in the past 10 years I could count the number of times she has missed to probably be about twice, then I call her. If she fails to answer, she knows I will call the police and ask them to do a welfare check. She does the same for me.

So far, neither of us had had to call the police.

This is a good plan. When I was a kid, my Great Aunt Mamie & her long time friend called each other everyday just for this reason.
 

A friend of mine lives in a 55+ home subdivision and people are found dead when neighbors noticed all the black flies on the windows. Their dogs all died too.

. I am in contact with a lot of people regularly so someone would notice. I have an Apple Watch so I could call for help. I did snugsafe for awhile but found it to be a pain.
 
I text a neighbour as soon as I get up in the morning and she does the same., just an emoji. We both have pets and I do not want them to miss their breakfast. In our strata we also advise residents to give their neighbour a key. If you are friends with your neighbours this might be the start of a conversation. For those of you that have pets, I recently read an article about pets, if they are hungry would eat a corpse though I can't remember if it was the cat or the dog.
 
89 here and alone. My daughter lives 25 minutes away. We send texts to each other every day. Works for now.

No pets, I don't enjoy walking.
 
I figure my cats will probably eat me down to the bone. Gruesome remnants for eventual responders to find when drawn by the odor, to be sure! But my ingested DNA will interact with and modify that of the felines, and I will be reborn as one of the Cat-People! 😺
