When our pets pass, taking time off of work/job.

Tis The Season
I was just thinking about over the years with the loss of my pets.
Always for me it is cats. They are family~

When I was steadily employed and may have had to put my
cat to sleep due to illness or end of life issues, I most always
chose to take the next day off of work, so used a sick day.
I would do the same now.

How about you and your pets?

I have an 18 year old cat presently and when her time would
come, I will surely take a day off work following, just how I
am.

You know, I don't think there's anything anyone can say about this. For people that don't feel as us pet lovers do, they may see this as ridiculous. But in the end, does it matter? WE feel the hurt, the loss of a beloved pet. And if we're feeling it, it's real.

I dread the day something happens to my dog. We all know it's coming, but we prefer it to happen always tomorrow, and not today.

Bless your heart.

Thank you Vaughn, I see you love your dog too, it’s a gift how they can have our hearts in many ways, it’s special, that is for sure 🤗

I had to put my last cat to sleep yesterday. He was just a shadow of his former self, but he fought to the end. He had a strong heart. His suffering is ended and mine has begun. I miss him so much. I forgot my purse at home when I left to take him to the vet. I went home and retrieved it afterward and dropped my keys while coming back into the vet's office. It's been downhill since. No way I could take on responsibilities of a job the way I feel now. Thankfully, I am done with that. Nothing wrong with taking a day off though.

I've had cats that came to say goodbye before they passed one of our little girls got into bed with me curled up in my arms purring loudly the next day she was gone. I had taken in the neighborhood stray we fed him but he wouldn't come in he was his own cat. Anyway, towards the end of his life the last two years he finally came in and allowed himself to be pampered. When the end was approaching he would ly in my office by the heater. I found him there with his tail curled up and a smile on his face.

I' ve seen a few of ours die ; cats and dogs and aided in their burials. I am very close to the current one - he sits next to me as I eat my meals knowing I will finally give in and give him titbits and then he gets to lick the plate [yes I do wash it later!] I will be a 'lump in the throat nerd' when he departs but life must go on somehow?

Sorry for your loss Judy, oh my how hard, our tears flow, sending you a huge hug 🤗
Missing him, remembering the love you both shared, my heart truly feels for you
and that is for sure~

I've had cats since I was in my 20's. I've now lost 6 cats. 5 needed to be put down and 1 (Milo) passed away in the family room. I told my Hubby to say goodbye to him that night because he was so weak. We found him the next morning. He was a sweetheart.

We have 6 and 10 year-old cats now. They are both males and are best buds. I hope they are around for a long time.

A tribute to Milo sleeping. He was the most chill little character.

Oh I'm so sorry - I answered about the taking a day off part, but I didn't see that you have an 18 year kitty, hope kitty has plenty of time left to be with you.

I've been retired for a couple of decades but if I worked and we lost our Deja, I'd be beside myself and would probably need time off. When we had our "catbaby" Audra euthanized at her very caring vets suggestion (she had been in the hospital), my son and I went to be with her and we both broke down in the room. I held her while she got the injection. I was working then but it was on a Saturday. I don't remember if I went in to work that Monday...that was more than 30 years ago. Audra was 18 years old. But I have a friend who has a cat that's 20 or 21. Hopefully you will have yours for a few more years.

I'm a cat person. I had a cat, Mikey, who I swear was a person in a cat suite. He was 16 and in pain, so I had him put to sleep at 11 AM. I had to be at work by 4 PM. No way could I do that. I called, told them my cat died and couldn't make it. Luckily, I worked at a psych. hospital, and they understood. If I worked for maybe GM or Ford, they may not understand calling in for the death of a pet.
