When was the last time you had a tooth pulled?

I had to see the dentist this morning as I was getting a reaction in a back molar. He had to take an x-ray and said the wisdom tooth had a small hole in it and needed to be removed, and the other molar on the right side had similar. I never expected to hear that but did agree to have one removed today and the other, next month.
It's been about 70 years since I had a tooth extracted and was amazed how times have changed. He was very gentle, and I didn't feel a thing, not unlike when I was
a small child and screamed with the needle. I was pleased when he said my teeth are in good condition considering my age. The only thing that hurt was paying out
$800.00 for x-ray and extraction.

Recently, one of my teeth was extracted along with X-ray. The dentist is locally reputable dentist. There was no pain nor blood to see after extraction.
I was charged $475.00 for its service.

I think I might be getting a tooth pulled on Wednesday. The dentist put a large filling in it last time, but he has said that it should come out.. so I'm at the dentist on Wednesday so we'll see... the cost is around £75...including the X-ray on the NHS...private treatment would be around £300 ...

A couple of months ago one near the front was pulled on lower. The extraction was easy because it was loose (don't know what caused it to get loose). Then I had to wait some weeks before they could make a snap in tooth Nesbit). It looks okay for hiding the vacancy and was cheaper than a bridge, but "you get what you pay for" (something bothersome to deal with and less than satisfactory).

My teeth? All wisdom teeth extracted, one of them was impacted and I needed a very good dental surgeon to get it removed. A young woman, she was terrific. Then two molars pulled. After the first molar I had a bridge, but after the second molar (bridge anchor) had to be pulled, I decided to have a gap of two missing teeth.

I had all my wisdom teeth removed at the same time for the same reason. All grew in Impacted ..it had to be done at the Dental hospital when I was in my 40's , I was knocked out for it.

About three years ago I had the roots from my last two teeth removed for approx. $1,000.00.

They had been used to anchor a hadar bar for a fixed lower denture approx. twenty years earlier.
That was a great system and I hated to see it go.

Now I have a set of old fashioned dentures that were approx. $4,200.00.

They work fine and are easily replaced by almost any dentist.

Other than my wisdom teeth, I had one molar pulled, maybe 20 years ago.

The worst part is, it was by choice. I was developing an abscess, and rather than have a root canal, I went the cheap route and decided to have it pulled instead.

I found myself unexpectedly depressed for quite a while after that. "Wow... I don't have all my teeth anymore"

I regret it to this day, because other than that, my teeth are just fine.

Just an update to my wisdom tooth extraction. I was waiting for the pain to start and had my painkillers next to my bed. Slept right through with a wad of dressing to stem the flow. Have to rinse every 3-4 hours with salt water. The receptionist rang me this morning to see if I was okay. Just miss a nice hot Coffee this morning and have to drink through a straw. All is well .

Two years ago, one back tooth of my upper teeth was extracted, This was a different dentist, 45 minutes' drive, a kind of rural section of my region. His office is located in the basement of his large house. I paid $325 as seeing there must be no office/lease payment.
In my recollection, there was a pain and blood after extraction, but I did not take any painkiller.
I rinsed 3 or 4 times with salt water during the day, but not during sleep.
The pain subsided about two week later.
The current dentist is just 5 minute's drive and located one of large buildings and seems he has more experience in the field of dentistry. This was one back tooth of my lower teeth.

Starting about age 70, I was going to the dentist 3 or 4 times a year for a bad tooth. Over the years, I had to get a "partial", and had more and more teeth problems....even with dental insurance, I was spending a bunch. Finally, a couple of years ago, I had the remaining teeth pulled and went to full dentures.
There were a couple of weeks of "discomfort" as the gums began to heal, and I had to live on pudding and cream of wheat. Then, I got "temporary" dentures that worked fairly well for a couple of months as the gums totally healed, and I was fitted for the permanent dentures. Now, i can eat pretty much eat everything with little need for denture adhesive. My old dentist was pretty good, but I was becoming one of his "cash cows".
