Malls used to be places to socialize, especially on Saturday. If you didn’t run into someone you knew, you could people watch or even shop. It was entertainment.
I was in a huge, upscale mall on Dec 23rd, normally a major shopping day. It wasn’t even busy.
It's been been 13 years since I've been to a mall. I'm not super fond of shopping, but I took my teenage daughter and some of her friends. The drive took place during a heavy snowstorm, in which the flakes were about the size of nickels. If it wasn't snow, it was road salt constantly covering my windshield during the round trip.
Often since the strip mall near me has my grocery store. Now if you're talking about a large indoor mall then 4-5 years ago. I dont need anything so theres no reason to go there. I did a lot of recreational shopping when I was younger so Im pretty much full up.
I'm in a mall about every 2 months. I go to Metrotown in Burnaby, BC. Ten minutes away by skytrain. Mostly, because I like the book store there, Chapters Indigo.
