When was the.last.time?...

I'm not much of a reader except for informational purposes, and can find the kind of material I need online. Even my small town has a public library. I just happen to recall that it was 13 years ago when my wife was still living, that she wanted to go to Barnes & Noble for some special book she wanted. That was my last time to go to a book store.

Ten years ago with a friend who used to live nearby. We had both gone to the same one but didn't know it then. So we returned for a trip down memory lane. It was a huge disappointment. The old store had books all over and any book you could ever forsee wanting while the new one was put together with perfection and pretty colors and barely any books. It was the Liftbridge Book Store in Brockport NY----RIP

you were ACTUALLY in a bookstore?

why?

For what?
Did you find what you wanted?😉
This morning..I love books and going to Barnes and Noble. I go there often .
I don't go there for any other reason than I love books,I love the atmosphere, the people that work there and the conversations I have sometimes with other customers...oh and the Cafe is quite nice, too! Bagels, hot chocolate with soymilk..
If they don't have a specific book I'm looking for which is not often, they can order it and have it delivered to the store in a few days .

My son and I went and hung out in Barns & Nobel about 8 months ago, but we didn't buy anything - unless you count the coffee.

I have a hard time reading the print on actual books, so while I love them (the smell, the feel, even the idea) --- I have given in to e-books, so I can make the font BIG.

That would be 1966... I was looking for a book about the Shelby Cobra's when I saw this really cool book with a picture of a Duecenberg SJ on the cover. I opened it up and I read a bit that has impressed me and stuck with me all these years. It went like this.....

Imagine, it's 1932 and at that time, you're cruising along at what is an unbelievable 50 mph speed. You dart past a long low slung roadster sitting on the side of the road. Suddenly, in less than a 1/4 mile, you hear a screaming banshee sound rapidly approching from the rear. Whoosh... a pale yellow blur goes by. Congradulations... You've just met the 1932 Duecenberg SJ supercharged roadster... a 5500lb car that will go from 0 to 100 in 17 seconds from a standing start. o_O

Impressive when you concider it's 1932. (y)

I love that car. and I know you have a passion for cars... butttttt....1966 ?...really ?.....last time you were in a bookshop?:sneaky::unsure:

My stepdaughter and I were just talking about that. There is a used bookstore rather close by. We may drop by. Probably will as long as I stay away from the owner. From the website, s/he has wildly different beliefs than mine -- we could end up in a fist fight!

I went to my husband's bookstore in 2019. I also went to B&N that year with my honorary grandsons, to buy books for one and a toy for the youngest. That was disappointing, seeing toys sold at B&N.

Before we moved to another state and thinned out our collection, my husband and I had at minimum 6,000 books at home for the family. The neighbors alternated between calling our house a library and calling it a toy store. (My husband collected out of print scifi books and I collected out of print children's books.)

I like to go to B&N to look at the nonfiction. There are plenty of those which are art-heavy and they are best read and used as actual books one can own, as opposed to on an e-reader. I don't like putting a book that is 100s of MBs on my e-readers. They aren't useful there anyway.

Relative to topic..
This is a memory..of th past
