When you hear something fall in the middle of the night, do you check?

Yes I always sit up in bed and listen and if I think it was something I get up and check.

Yep, always check if it's a loud noise.

The other night I was watching TV downstairs, and I heard an Almighty bang, so loud it sounded like a piece of furniture had fallen over.. shook the walls almost..so I got up and went upstairs, looked in every room.. nothing was out of place. I thought that can't be, the noise was room shaking... so I looked again and again in every room up and downstairs.. nothing !!

It wasn't until the next day that my neighbour told me there's a group of young youths who are going around, the latest craze apparently is kicking people's front doors as hard as they can in the hope the door will burst open.. so that was clearly what had happened..

I was very angry I have to tell you because we don't live in a bad area or an area where there are youths hanging around... so this was very annoying, and something to be particualrly aware of, if I wasn't home in case the door does or did get burst open..

I would be upset too and would have called police , that is awful and could really scare you! Sorry that happened!

I called the school... they said that as it hadn't happened on the school grounds they couldn't take action against the boys despite my neighbour having the photos of them... but they would inform the parents.. ..so my your guess is as good as mine as to what happened..

Yes, I get up and check most of the time.

Right after my parents died I heard all kinds of noises. I heard one of them slamming the cupboard door and slamming my bamboo cutting board on my counter. I was always getting up.
Now, all I hear are the raccoons in the attic.

No I wouldn't get up in the middle of the night. Animals make noises all the time. I tell myself that.

It depends on the type of bark the big dog gives. I can tell if he is only being goofy or if something really has him upset. Usually then, it is only a car or person out on the street or an opossum on the back fence.

The problem is that when he wakes me up, he also wakes up my bladder. Means I have to get up anyway LOL.

When I first read the title of this thread, my nurse brain immediately went to hearing someone fall at night…. Yeah, in that case, I am on the way lickity-split.

There’s is no sound quite as sickening as to hear someone’s head hit the floor
