When Your Socks Get Holes In Them.......

Do you throw them away or mend them? Recently I had two socks (not two pairs) with holes in the heel part. I know mending in that area would make them uncomfortable, so I threw them away. I can use the black sock as a spare because I have a couple more pairs just like it. I'm not likely to find a match for the other pair. Perhaps I'll save the remaining sock to dust with.

All my socks are alike and I buy them every decade or so by the dozen.
All alike so I don't have to match them and can collectively toss in the corner of a drawer in a wad as it were.
If one gets a hole or a defect is found, I toss it with no remorse. Just one less in the pile.

I have over a dozen black socks. If one gets a hole in it I throw the one out and match it with the other socks. I don’t bother mending socks. If my socks get holes in them it’s usually because they are worn out in that area. I’ve been told by my chiropractor that it’s important to have good socks that are evenly distributed. In other words, throw holey socks out cause they aren’t good for the back.

I darn my hiking socks if needed, and my pure wool socks; the rest I usually throw away.

Not a problem for me at all, I toss the duff sock away and I don't give a hoot what colour it is, because I often put socks of different colours together to make a pair. Folks often point out to me that I'm wearing different colour socks, and I just tell them, "Yes, you are right, I've got 47 pairs just like them in my sock basket."

I don’t mend them and I am a bit slow about tossing or repurposing them.

If they're really good socks that were purchased when thick winter socks were quality, I'd repair them
The socks today and what I wear all the time, I buy in bulk and throw away as they wear out.
There are bins now at the recycling center for clothing and shoes. I throw them in there.

When I was younger and living in New York City, I mended socks with holes in them. Now, I just throw them out. I have so many socks that I can do that.

I stopped wearing socks at about the age of 8; my feet are hot all the time.
