Whenever I see a headline referring to an "elderly" person

I just have to click on it to see how old the "elderly" person is. One I saw this morning mentioned an woman in her late 80s. The other day, the elderly person in a news article was 66. My hometown newspaper reports every little thing that happens, and I was in a fender bender accident and not injured about 20 years ago when another driver pulled out in front of me on a side street. The paper referred to me as "elderly" although I wasn't yet even 60.

Now I'm almost 77. It's true that the older we get, the further away old age gets...

Often I'll read the headline... ''grandmother '' gets assaulted ..or robbed..or is the robber or something similar...and of course you're first instinct is to think it's someone elderly...then you read on...and there's a picture taken from the FB page of the victim or criminal ..with a tiny mini skirt on, and age only 40 years old... Not that it makes any difference regarding the crime...however posting ''grandmother' is a tad misleading..

But Fuzz, my best aunt is 92! I guess we could call her elderly because she's getting a tad unsteady on her feet. Maybe she started being elderly around 90. And my best-ever step-mother was 82 when she died but wasn't even close to being elderly. And I'm too close to 80, so 80 shouldn't be the age when we're elderly. Let's move it out by a few years:)
