Where are they now?

Yes, I wondered about treeguy64 and oldman as well.
Hello! I appreciate the concern of those who were wondering where I've been, and how I am.

I am fine, I am busy. I have decided to back wayyyyyy off, in here. I became aware of a creeping dependence, that was developing in me, for validation of my posts via thumbs-up icons, smiley faces, positive comments, etc.

In fact, one poster, in here, brought this to a head, for me, when she/he had repeated, online tantrums when her/his posts received no replies and/or no approval icons. This person posted replies asking if something was wrong with what she/he posted. It was absurd, and I realized I was heading her/his way.

I did remove all notification updates to my account regarding any comments or icons I received, but that only helped a bit.

A correlate, here: When I left, the first time, it was, in part, due to a pm I received, wherein the person I was dealing with included his girlfriend in the series, so she could give his rude comments to me a thumbs up! Insanity: I thought we were having a private conversation!

So......

Some of you know my real name and my hometown. Those knowing the same are more than welcome to get in touch via email. I certainly would enjoy hearing from you, and I'm a faithful correspondent.

If I had the inclination, I would start a forum with NO APPROVAL ICONS, not just one with the option to remove updated notifications of the same. If someone wanted to respond, using the written word, great. Other than that, members would post, and that would be that.

FWIW, this issue has actually been covered in episodes of various sci-fi shows. The protagonists all went through various negative changes when their posts didn't get the approval they craved. At least one poster, here in SF, could be on an episode like the above.

As Dylan sang: "It ain't me, babe!"

I agree.

well , I'm pleased to hear from you TG...and I remember that ''post and poster '' to whom you refer with regard the reliance of approval icons .. and the fact that 2 posters colluded to create a problem for you, is nothing but childish, (I would imagine that they are not the same people) and I'm sad to see that is happening here, but I have to say not entirely surprised..

Pity we have to lose a decent poster because of it tho'... ..do take care!!

Thank you for letting us know that you're ok and that life is keeping you busy. Good thought on the approval icons.

I hope you aren't stepping away from SF permanently. You've offered so many insights, engaging posts, healthy food tips and recipes, and stories from your life and various careers. If you leave, our forum will surely be the poorer for it.

Wishing you well.

How pathetic.

You should know there is no such thing as a "private" pm/conversation here on SF (or any other forum). People repeat things and even copy/paste or forward to others. Certain 8th grade busybodies find such bs exciting.

i have the majority of all the alert functions off in here. that sounds like a pretty immature scene. it is nice to know, though.

I respect your reasons for choosing not to post anymore, TreeGuy, however - I will miss your input on subjects.

i do not see where he said he would not post here anymore. i simply see where he has stated that he has backed off. a lot. perhaps i misunderstood?
