For the past 4 yrs,I have been volunteering at an org called'Canopy Of Neighbors' which allows residents 62 and older to independently stay in their homes. We have a volunteer pool of drivers{some are members} who will take other members to dr appts/grocery shopping etc. You have to notify the office within a wk of your request,,so we can find a driver to take you. There are year round activites some are located in the building where we are, some are free to members. To give you a better idea, go to the link www.canopyofneighbors.org
A couple weeks ago,I added MOn morning to come in and call members,Tues is my other morning doing office work e.g filing and other projects that Sasha{exe director} or Wendy{head of volunteers} needs help with.I became a member 2 yrs

I've been given a couple weekly tasks to do thanks to our wonderful graphic designer,Lenore. She is the person who has taught me so many computer skills over the yrs. I truly enjoy this too

I don't, not since I displaced my kneecap last year.

Up until then I spent a few hours a week (while I was working full time too).. at our local Dog rescue centre & kennels.. helping out by cleaning, feeding and walking dogs, & pups.. . and had done that for many years
I can't do it any more, which makes me really sad, but I have been thinking of signing up for the WRVS which is the women's royal voluntary service, and basically they're volunteers who do everything from working in hospital canteens, to fund-raising, and admin support...

In Arizona I was a member of the Sheriff's Posse. The Posse's job was to be the eyes and ears of the Sheriff's office. Enforcement was handled by the regular Deputies, but Posse patrolled and assisted as needed. Welfare checks were often done by Posse members.
There were lady members too. Now I am retired.

I used to volunteer at the library, and and a few times at a local catholic school, helping youngsters to navigate tests on a PC. Then I moved too far away.

I tried Sat. dog-walking with dogs from the pound...LOL they pulled me down the street. I had to quit.

I had voluntarily got a rescue pet and have been caring for her as she was quite the mess when I got her. With a lot of love, patience and care the past 7 years she has bloomed into a happy little girl! :)

Two mornings a week I am a volunteer at our church playgroup. I buy and prepare food for the children's morning tea. It gives me great pleasure. I am also on the management committee of the long day care centre and have been for about 30 years. I am currently serving as chairperson.

Wife and I have been working with a large, local, environmental group for 30+ years. We used to work outdoor recyling drives every month, year 'round. We now do drives for electronics only as our group brought in curbside recycling. We work a bookstore (staffed by volunteers) that takes in used books from the public and sort throught them and sell the better books. We then have to load up cars and take unwanted books to recycling bins. We work use-it-again sales taking in unwanted items from the public and selling them as well as additional large book sales which require a lot of manpower to set up and tear down. We're on committees for various 'green' initiatives (now trying to get local businesses to stop handing out plastic straws) as well as a dozen other projects. We sometimes do 'grunt work' and help restore various areas from invasive plants and planting native plants. Wife and I bag up styrofoam on a weekly basis to be picked up by other volunteers and reused --- we're proud of that as almost no styrofoam is recycled in this country. All kinds of things related to the environment.

Over the years, the other orgs I was a volunteer, our local Habitat for Humanity,a 'soup kitchen called'Loaves&Fishes'
The church mission trip in 2005 to Gulf Coast to D'Iberville,Miss after Hurricanes Rita&Katrina nearly destroyed this small town

I volunteered for the Air Force in 1969. Although I admit it was under duress from my local draft board that was nipping at my heels. Since then, not a damn thing.

I record others and edit their talk programs and spots for a local LP (low power) dot org radio station in our area. They produce high quality output, so that's why I volunteered. Once a nerd. . .
Also teach English to speakers of other languages. Love hearing my language spoken with different accents; makes it sound musical šŸŽ¶
