Considering most members are aged somewhere between 60 and 80, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the worst.

I have to agree, SF is a place where members share personal stories, thoughts and feelings. For a person to abruptly cease participation, there would likely be a specific reason.
On other forums where personal matters aren't shared much(computer forums, automotive forums etc) a person may end up not posting as frequently as they had, if say, their reason for participating was for technical assistance, nobody would notice or think a member's absence to be "abnormal".

Wherever Rob is, I hope he is ok. I miss his comments and fishing tales. Today when I made a salmon sandwich, I wondered what it would be like with freshly caught sockeye. It made me think of him.
