Where to look for who are forum mods and that sort of thing? I very much am enjoying this site.

LadyEmeraude

You may call me EM 😊
It is probably looking me straight in the eye, but I can't see it.
I just want to be informed is all. Thanks. LadyEmeraude :)

I realize that MATRIX is the admin.

I have enjoyed a variety of online forums over my older years, and always
make a point once I join, of learning who is who and those related things,
that I see as important.

You can look at the Forum-Support-Suggestions page:

https://www.seniorforums.com/forums/forum-support-suggestions.14/

The first 3 entrees are worth reading. May be other places as well, that's what I know.

You can send @Matrix PM, either by clicking on his name, or by going to the envelope icon. Then you have to click on the start a conversation button. I am not sure but you may have to be a member for a certain time or number of posts before you can send PMs.

Thank You Rob, very helpful info and I will read what you suggested, by doing so, no doubt I will
also find answers to my questions. :)

This Forum no longer has Moderators. @Matrix is Admin and Moderator rolled into one... (y)

That is good to know, thanks hollydolly, Matrix must be an extremely busy Admin/Moderator,
as so much is always in motion and goes with the responsibilities of both Admin and Mod.

Well, I am still learning how to navigate around this site, just takes a little time. ;)

well TBH we pretty much moderate ourselves.. we've come to know what Matrix will accept and what he will not.. so it's fairly easy if we follow the very few rules he sets..:D we're very fortunate on this forum with our Admin,. especially given that this forum is paid for out of his own pocket..

Please feel free to ask any questions of us, with regard to the workings of the forum to make it easier for you... We were all new once upon a time.. (y)

Agreed and I do actually and honestly, as members learning what is accepted and what is not, knowing a forums
policies and expectations, makes a huge difference for the success or failure of an online Senior forum like
this. Sounds like Matrix is on the ball with things, and that is excellent (imo)

Thanks Again! ;)

There are some moderators of specific forums and a subforum here but not of the entire forum as far as I know -it seems Matrix does that. I won't say who the forum specific moderators are but they can only moderate specific areas (forums). If they want to say who they are it's up to them. IMO.

Ok, so there are moderators for specific forums and subforums, but not entire forums. Interesting. Thanks!

Matrix has never told anyone on this forum that there are Moderators of sub-forums..

Only a few new forums suggested by our members have mods. I have been using a simple rule when adding a new forum: whoever suggests a new forum, they need to moderate it and keep it organized, they may also have the motivation to keep it active. :) It's easier for me, and I don't have to make many decisions.

As for the moderation of the whole board, it's really not much work as long as I don't have to read every post and trace back history to decide who is the bad guy. If removing a couple of posts can't get a thread back on track, I will lock it. When I'm out of town, I can do a quick check with my phone, a few clicks are enough to keep the forum clean, but I need my computer to post or converse.

Last time we added a super mod, it's a disaster, we lost a very helpful member. I don't dare to try it again.

Got you.. I understand now.. if someone has suggested a thread and you've implemented it.. then it's theirs to look after.. (y)

OK, another question I have. When does a member's profile status change or upgrade if that's what you call it?
How long is a member shown as a new member and then what comes next? My example then, I am new obviously
but have reached 100 plus posts, so now what comes next? Do we pick our own? Oh that could be fun LOL

oh it goes through a few stages depending on your amount of posts.. doesn't take long if you post often..

ETA you can actually choose your own.. if you wish.. :D

If I chose my own, do I put that then on the Status line and it will show on my profile pic area?

I don't know I've never done it myself but others have
Interesting. Ok then if some other members have done this, can one of them maybe
who read this, post how to do it. OR does it depend how far along a member is before
they can post their own status line below their profile pic.

click on your own user name. Then select Account Details. Find Custom Title and enter what pleases your own sweet self.

Thanks, Llynn, I will keep at it until I figure it out. Right now, I am stuck on Find Custom Title.
I have of course located Select Account Details. I'm like a dog chasing it's little ole tale, round
and round, but I will get the results I want eventually. ;);)
