@ Naturally.
Fantastic job of cleaning that photo
As noted before no rate yet so that tells me this was at boot camp.

This Google search has building 310 in it.

Yes you did! I was thinking that it was a brick building, but I wasn't really sure. Now the building shows up very well! (doesn't look like my Dad anymore! 😮 LOL)

I downloaded the other picture of my Dad while wearing this uniform. I'm not sure what the insignia is on his left arm, but the picture was taken right after he was at Great Lakes Naval Training Center.

Cool!!!! I like your version better!!! I didn't even know that could be done!
I use a program called Photoshop Elements, but I'm really an amateur with it. I tried to colorize the photo but that requires more resolution than we see in this picture. The scratches and lighting aren't too difficult. Sort of a hobby for me.

The insignia on your dad's arm signifies the rank of Airman Apprentice (E-2 paygrade).
I say Airman Apprentice because your dad was in the Naval Air pipeline and on his way to becoming an Aviation Machinist Mate.
Different Naval communities have different colored insignia but the two stripes indicates the rank of "Apprentice", E-2 paygrade.
That photo looks to me, to have been taken at Memphis(?)

Yes, at Memphis. That is where he went after Great Lakes.

Very cool, about the arm patch!
