Which card games are easy to learn for a group meetup

I'll bet you can learn to play any game on YouTube. I'm a YouTube certified Goldwing mechanic!
Mexican Train is a fun Domino game. We have a game we play for hours. It is addictive. My daughter's whole neighborhood gather to partake in tournaments. It is a very simple game. Only four cards have rules of the game. All others dictate the number of spaces moved. If you want to be hit of the party introduce them to Carbles (look it up on YouTube).

Acey-Deucey, 1st time was in tech school after basic. Won big, one of the losing players was destined to be my red rope (leader) later, I gave him back his loses & from that moment on I had very easy duty. Think protection money - he was much bigger than I. Wise investment!

I've got a fun game for you: Tripoly
Win thirty cents, you think you've won the lotto. Lose twenty five cents or so and you'll feel broke. It's a lot of fun. You don't need to buy a board. Mark plastic cups which you can quickly dump to grab your winnings. The one disadvantage to this game is there is one quick Poker hand to be played. Infallibly there will be one player who doesn't know how to play Poker.
 
Left, right, center is a really fun game and can be played with many people. U can play with Pennies, nickels, dimes or quarters. U just need the dice. Toy stores usually have it and sometimes they are near the register because the packaging is small or u can get this set from Amazon .IMG_1648.jpeg

My son (56) is actually the chess player in the family. He had a friend that was a savant in most things. They would get together & play, leaving their board setup for days & weeks. I cleared it one time & caught h*** from the wife, him & friend - left it alone after that. Would play him when there was no one else & he was bored, He did let me win once in a while.

FreeCell, rousing game of dominos, Phase10 & Mahongg are about the only games (computer, otherwise) I play.

There seem to be (as least) two types of card players. One is the person who understands that it's just a game and a social activity. The other considers it a blood sport where the fate of the world hangs on how well their partner plays. Avoid the latter like the plague! ;)

Unfortunately the few card clubs we still have around here—ones that say anyone can join rather than being a closed group of longtime close friends—are mostly filled with the bloodsport kind of player Tommy describes.

Being in a bigger area would help I think and sounds like maybe you are so I hope you find a nice group. I like playing cards and it’s supposed to be good mentally too. Good luck.

However, people can get very angry playing hearts and it does have a certain meanness factor. I wouldn't recommend it for a nice party.

I would suggest rummy or canasta. Growing up we had a nice screened in porch and summer nights all the teens would meet at out house and play canasta. It has a fairly slow pace, is easy to learn, and a game lasts pretty long. The only person who ever got mad was my brother at me for playing the one card that would give the whole stack away to the next person. I did that a lot. :sneaky:

I don't understand why anyone would get angry playing "Hearts," I have played with hundreds of people and no one has ever gotten angry. Some have been frustrated because they were stuck with the Queen and then we would all laugh and so would the holder because it's happened to all of us.

Queen of spades😁! I Played against a co-worker who would even cheat at cribbage. Couldn't seem to count his hand or peg unless it was to his advantage. He would get nasty if things didn't go his way, then throw his cards. I called him on his cheating several times until he would no longer play against me. He took all the fun outta any game. His loss, my gain.

As Veronica noted, chess is a tough game and brain freeze hits me fast. That's why I lose each time I try it.
 
U got to play 5 card stud with Jokers, 2's, 3's, 4's & 5's wild.
The winner is after 4 decks and has the most chips won + Fingers.

Then there is BullShi, deal out the cards and claims what cha got,
the next person can claim bull-s or pass for the next in turn!

2 - 3 card guts with lots of wild cards comes next. Do not, repeat do not - Play 7 card guts.
Most all will end up enemies for life.
