Which Is Your Choice In Milk, Whole, Skim or In Between?

I use Almond beverages regularly now and must admit that I now prefer them over using 2%. My favourite is the unsweetened vanilla ones although they aren't always available for some reason. My brother also uses Almond drinks as he struggles with kidney disease so must avoid dairy products as much as possible. I do hope restaurants will one day offer these dairy "alternatives" as part of their menu.
Thank you Lashann, for not referring to almond drinks as "milk"! ♥
I hope your brother will get and keep his disease under control.

Sorry about your brother Lashann.

Can you or Keesha tell me what exactly are these almond beverages made from? Lots of calories or not?

Hi Lee,
The almond drinks available are either refrigerated or shelf stable. I have a large pantry so I stock up by buying shelf stable ones that do not require refrigeration until opened. One of the brands I am now using is Blue Diamond, Almond Breeze and the Ingredient list reads:
Water, Almonds, Calcium carbonate, natural Vanilla flavour, Sea salt, Potassium citrate, Sunflower lecithin, Gellan gum, Zinc gluconate, Vitamin A palmitate, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin D2, Vitamin B12. The carton also states it is free of: dairy, soy, lactose, cholesterol, peanuts, casein, gluten, eggs and MSG. It is also non GMO.

The caloric content is 30 calories per 1 cup.

Thanks Lee for your concern about my brother as it is certainly appreciated.

This is a memory from childhood, it is still about milk....so i'll sneak it in....We all had tons of questions when we were younger kids, my Dad told me about this one, i already new where white milk came from..white cows..so i asked where does chocolate milk come from..he answered..brown cows..my next question was..where does strawberry milk come from..he answered..from strawberries..i was told i strongly corrected him..no Daddy..everybody knows strawberry milk comes from pink cows.🐄🐄🐄

Never understood why "almond milk" is called milk since its just ground up almonds and water. I drink 2% milk or 1% milk. My sister only buys whole milk and I think I am drinking ice cream when I visit!. They do not want the 1 or 2% so I enjoy the whole milk while I am there. When we eat out I enjoy the 'sweet tea" instead of milk. I make really good "sweet tea" but its just me so I don't make it unless the kids are home.

I use heavy cream in my coffee and almond milk for all other milk needed. I never really was a milk drinker but use the unsweetened almond milk in oatmeal, puddings and various recipes. I call it almond milk because that is what the cartons have on them. You can make your own, but I prefer Almond Breeze brand.
