Pan fried or grilled. My all time favorite is a roller dog that we could by at Sears after we finished shopping.
I'll cut mine the same way & pan fry so I can put them inside a grilled cheese. My husband did this for me a long time ago when I wasn't feeling well & we've been making them ever since.Grilled is my first choice, but when the weather is not conducive or it just isn't worth the hassle for a hot dog or two, I slice the franks in half but not all the way through, open them like a book, and cook them on a griddle with just a little oil until both sides are blistered and a bit charred.
