Which personality type best describes you?

While i am sure this was someone's life work to categorize people based on assumptions and moments in time,
I think we can be a combination of many or perhaps once fit better into a type now fit a different one. People will say no -no what fits you best at the moment and then in taking some test we answer what we think we should not always how things really are, so test is flawed from the start.

Too many give too much importance to these things .... and then feel they must define themselves but these labels.

The Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was developed in the 40s as a test to help women, entering the work force for the first time, to find work/jobs best suited to their preferences.

"The research that Myers and her colleagues conducted in those early years was primarily interested in what kind of profession was best suited to each type. Indeed, one of the main goals in developing the MBTI was to help 1940s women, many of whom had never had a career, find satisfactory employment during the Second World War."

It was later used by career counselors to help guide college students in selecting majors that they would find interesting and that they felt that would excel at due to their intrinsic motivations.

After creating the test, it was given to college students and the results compared statistically to determine where the heavier concentration of types were found in terms of college majors. That is the basis for career counselor's recommendations for potential career interest areas based upon the type that the MBTI had indicated for a given individual.

Where all the other assumed traits of the 16 types comes from is anybody's guess.

I tested as INFP but do not relate to being a Mediator, a poet, or an altruistic guy ready to help a good cause.

But I did find career satisfaction in the kinds of activities that the MBTI indicates I would. Drawing (in Engineering Depts., creativity in designing and programming Computer drawing applications.)

This " MTBI Personality test" keeps coming up as a true psych. test. It's been debunked as being as accurate as rolling dice or a Ouija Board. People are not one "personality"- they are a full range of emotions, and behaviors.
But like an Ouija board, sometimes MTBI is fun.
I have used this test for the past 30years. It’s useful in both marriage counseling and family counseling so people can get a perspective on how their family views things differently from them. It can also be used to help coworkers understand one another.

I’ve also used it in career counseling. After people take the test there are many occupations that are compatible with each of the 16 personality types. These are a great starting point for people to use in vocational exploration along with other interest inventories. It’s one of many tools that both a therapist and a vocational evaluator have in their toolbox.

Well was it accurate both times Mark or did you get two different results? Was one accurate and the other not? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Well I don't know what I got right out of college but when it came up in discussion in retirement and I did it again I got Mediator (INFP-A).

It seems about right. Not that it tells anyone everything they need to know me. How about you, do you know your profile? (I had to go to the site and get a link by email.)
