Which state is best to retire in

When you're in your 60s and 70s, it's not that easy to make new friends. You don't have the connections you had through jobs and children. So for me the best place to live is where you have friends and family already. Of course economics and weather are considerations; we like the milder Virginia weather and we don't mind that life is cheaper here in Central Virginia than it was in the New York area.

I've always loved the Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky area of the US. Beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons, moderate weather, mountains and valleys and rivers, and you can easily find areas to live a comfortable rual life. I often think I should relocate to that part of the US.

I heartily endorse the state of Virginia.
