Which stores do you remember from your childhood?

Marshall Fields Dept. Store.
Marshall Field's, former department store chain whose flagship store on State Street in Chicago was for a time the largest in the world, comprising 73 acres of floor space and having larger book, china, shoe, and toy departments than any other department store of its time.

Can still remember that luscious raspberry swirl chiffon cake we'd have in their dining room after
a fancy lunch.

Woolworths and Grants, which patterned itself after Woolworths, and were side by side in my home town. Loved those stores as a kid.
Live in coastal Mass. and my now wife worked part-time in Grant's and Kresge's back in the early 50's when she was in high school. Interestingly, the stores were side by side, along with Woolworth's.

I grew up in a small mountain town in Colorado. During Christmas season our city was always covered in snow, sometimes very deep by Christmas. It was a 'playland' for the kids that lived there. Walking downtown was about two blocks for me and my favorite store was the 5 & 10 store. They had the biggest selection of penny candy in town. I did not have a lot of money so I spent lots of time deciding on which candy I would buy with my nickel. Very fond memories for me....
rolls of Lifesavers and packs of gum were just a nickel... back in the day, right?!
