Which'easy to use' thing gives you problems?

Things that come packaged in plastic-- from batteries to almost any hardware you buy, toys, makeup, etc.! It's like they don't really want you to get inside without a struggle! In this day and age of recycling, I have to wonder why so much plastic is wasted doing this while we are forced to participate in recycling efforts, this doesn't make sense to me. I have a difficult enough time finding the directions let alone having strength in my hands to open things as designed.
 
Carla, one of the guys I used to work with always kept a small pair of scissors dangling on a chain from his belt---just for opening such packages and candy bar wrappers from vending machine. I have three pairs of scissors in the house---kitchen, bathroom, and next to the coffeepot upstairs, for the same reason. I can't do those packages either.
 
I have scissors everywhere, too, but I have found knives from the dollar store with blades that adjust in size best for those things totally sealed in hard plastic...
 
Being left handed, I find many everyday tasks, a bit more challenging than the majority population. Most minor irritations,(scissors), some expensive, (sporting goods), some potentially life threatening, (safety location on fire arms, and chainsaws.)

I use a pair of aircraft sheet metal cutters for that plastic packaging that is on so many products..

They are economically available at the front Chinese tool display in any TSC, Harbor Freight, or small chain hardware store. You can buy straight cut, or left and right. These aren't even a shadow of the bona fide tool, but for something to use a few times a year on plastic,in the thirty dollar range,( for the set of 3,or 12 to14 per), you can't go wrong. Pruning shears would probably work just as well.

I agree. I also hate the huge packages for smaller products like make-up. Amazon often has a "Frustration Free Packaging" option and I choose it whenever it's available.
 
"Blister packs" that take a nuclear explosion to open. Years ago, my daughter was trying to open one, got frustrated and tried to open it with a knife. The knife slipped, cut into her finger and severed a tendon. Five hours of micro-surgery later, she had a finger that would no longer completely flex or open completely. I've very careful about blister packs now.

Its incredible how anyone came up with this type of packaging. Couldn't agree more,
 
As of Jan 1, my cable TV provider has a brand new computerized channel display. Before you wanted to look at #6, you clicked "6", and you GOT 6. Now, you get an "array". If you want, you can find out the cast of the show that's coming on after this one. So, you have to press a bunch of numbers just to see #6. I'm a guy. You can't channel surf by pressing a bunch of numbers each time.

I keep a pair of scissors in the kitchen for opening impossible plastics.

You have to wonder whose bright idea that was! I would find that annoying too. I wonder if there is a way to override all that info--have you called the company?

Yes, Nancy, I use big scissors! Glad others seem to have problem with these things. ( I start to feel mentally deficient)

Ralphy, if I used knives I probably would not have any fingers left, haha!
 
Band-aids. Can't get the paper off the sticky part without it folding over on itself. (Remember when the wrappers had a little pull string. Cute. :))

Easy resealable zip lock bags for frozen foods. For me, they usually break apart somewhere else besides the zipper, and even if they do come apart at the right place, I can't get them to zip back.
 
Those thin plastic water bottles. When I try to open one I guess I squeeze too hard and the water comes out of the top.
 
I have a Eureka upright vacuum. It is bag less, the filter is washable but once I remove it I can't seem to line it up correctly to get it back together. I have actually had to walk away from it for awhile, my stomach gets in knots.
 
Most medicines that come in bottles. First you have to pull the ring cap thing, which always seem to break halfway round, then get the cap off, then try to get the stuck down covering over the top of the bottle. Frustrating.

Then there's the jars of jam that are vacuum sealed. Twist with all your might, and it won't budge. Have to get an assortment of tools to try to break that vacuum first.
 
Mine is can openers for sure. I gave up on electric ones years ago. The past 15, I've had a Pampered Chef "clean cut" one that was the most UNergonomic thing ever made. I felt like I had the have my wrist turned and twisted like a pretzel just to operate it. Santa just brought me a new OXO clean cut where I keep my wrist in line to use.
