It is true that always labeling liberals as far left is a misnomer. No matter our political leanings we're individuals as well. Yes I hug my trees and hate guns...but I also feel the death penalty can be a good thing. How's that for being labeled a bleeding heart liberal? I know for hardcore criminals it definitely reduces the recidivism rate. Then again I just read the saddest article a few days ago. A bunch of guys who did up to thirty years in prison, before evidence pointed out they were innocent. Execution needs to be for those cases beyond a shadow of a doubt.

You missed Warri's point. YOU always preface the word left with "FAR". Most liberals (Progressives) are NOT FAR!!!!!!!! You are the only poster who constantly uses "FAR left" whenever you mean liberal. One in awhile you even use FAR FAR left.

And why not. Some of the liberals always use Republicans to be evil no matter what. There are the near center Republicans I would call them to be right. Then there are the ones that insist on staying real close to the written Constitution and demand all things be that way. I call them to be far right.

On the Democrats side there are those that stay close to center and those are the left ones but there are those that want to see the US become socialist, and some even communist, and those become the far left and there are some on this forum that fit that mold. Neither socialism or communism are truly possible as long as our Constitution is kept going. We have some conflicts going as the Constitution says the people are in charge, not some federal few or political parties to make our decisions. We are a Republic, which is a small, but important, step better than a democracy alone.

Other country folks can have their own ways but they don't fit into the US politics in any way at all. So at best their ideas are merely opinions. They get no votes in the US.

i don't know a single liberal that wants and all Socialist government... or worse yet communist.. Every single liberal I know agrees that Capitalism is a good thing... and wants it to continue. However unfettered capitalism is a cannibal.. and eventually will eat itself up, forcing all the money to the top leaving the 99% without, and the environment destroyed. Since the ONLY thing it cares about is profit it must be reigned in. Capitalism needs to be controlled in the form of taxes and regulations. We also need social safety nets that protect the most vulnerable of our citizens... the poor... children.. and the elderly. THIS is what every liberal I know thinks..

THEN we all differ in our views on social issues... there are liberals who own guns... who agree with capital punishment... who are anti-abortion.. and even an occasional few against gay marriage. There are liberals who are more hawkish than other when it comes to the military... Some folks really need to put away that broad brush they love to paint us with.

This is a good post. Wish it were true. Why do so many just hee haw when ever a Republican comment is made? Nothing wrong with fixing the tax codes as that has been proposed many times over recent years by the Republican members in Congress but never got any time for debates or action. One of the most hated of the far right conservatives, the far far right, has wanted to shut down the government to force the issue of taxes and debts. but instead the lefty bunch just turned it into a hate you campaign and blamed the Republicans for the problems.

Plenty of other problems too that the left folks do not want to sit down and have debates in congress and work out joint solutions. It just seems to be only the left folks really want it all to be their way or nothing. Now that the congress is held by the Republicans for nearly year now. The treat of being blamed for more problems has held them from actually taking over and demanding debates and solutions. The hope being that next year there will be a new administration with more open minded folks in charge. It does not have to be Republican only for a better government. Just being a different President will give the country different views to achieve and that will be good.

Dear me, Bob. As an outsider it doesn't seem that way to me at all. The current congress seems to be controlled by a group that is not even a registered political party i.e. the Tea Party and they definitely want things to be all their way or nothing. Are you implying that they are 'left folks'.

Given that an election in in the offing, the Republicans have their chance to demand debates and offer solutions. We will see what develops on that front.

You do know that the world watches these things with keen interest, don't you?
