An Australian indigenous pilates instructor is sick of being asked her what 'percentage' Aboriginal she is due to her light complexion.
Lily Hodgson, 23, who posts TikTok videos under the account Thrlils about her cultural history, is often targeted by trolls questioning her right to celebrate her racial identity.

Trolls gotta troll someone. Heritage is only partly about genetics. It is almost all about culture. There are many light skinned Australians of Aboriginal descent who lost their culture because of government policies such as removal of light skinned children from their mothers.

Discrimination caused many of these children to hide or deny their aboriginality as adults but today their descendants are searching for their roots and actively reclaiming their culture, and why shouldn't they?

That sounds a little like our Senator Elizabeth Warren claiming Cherokee ancestry, and while a DNAtest eventually did show some native heritage, it was obvious she wanted to use it for some type of gain. She eventually apologized to the Tribe. One thing is that because of the forced diaspora of theCherokee tribe, only 1/16 Cherokee ancestry is required for membership enrollment, while in our NewMexico Pueblo tribes which remain close to original homeland, 1/4 is required.
