Who Else Has Blocked Someone From Facebook?

My friends deluged me with pics, sites, and posts about their dog's bowel habits. And I had two friends, who were FB addicts.- their fingers were worn into the knuckle. I could never figure out how to use FB. I was afraid if somehow I shut down the river of posts, they would find out I did that.
I learned over time that online fights occur, and the best defense is to just ignore them. But that's always not easy to do.
 

As an occasional user of Facebook for 16 years, I tend to only block
people that frequent my profile with very odd messages, mostly those
I do not know, or whom I suspect to be potential scammers. Otherwise
it's all ok...

I keep my profile on private settings, and including all pics I might post.
Only direct friends etc have actual access to posting on my profile....

By not leaving my profile 'open' to public access so to say, I avoid lots
of potential issues or stressors..

I just read and rarely comment, unless it’s expected. DGD posts photos of her babies, so that’s appreciated.

Mostly I belong to specialized health groups. My favourite pastime is reporting scammers.
 
What fascinates me , is that certain people say they only go on FB for certain sites like marketplace etc and they SPY on everyone
God what creeps !! Jealous creeps !!

I was a virgin at blocking people but will say that with a phone call I received a few minutes ago I KNOW I did the right thing. And I will never change my mind.

Would you believe that this person called up the funeral home regarding my late husband wanting a copy of the death certificate so he could get compensated for time off work. He never even went to the funeral. The funeral home made me aware of this and I was flaberghasted!
 
My FB is set to accept only people I already know .. ever since someone I don't know, pretended to be
acquainted with a friend of mine. This stranger hacked my account. I rarely use FB ever since that happened.

Wow. I didn’t think death certificates would just be handed out to just anyone.

That business must have suspected him of being a liar.
 
I'm still on FB but just barely as I found out too many accounts get hacked, I change my password nearly every month to try to avoid this, I think FB should do more to control hackers.
As for blocking people....yes, I've blocked people that get on FB and rant their political 'misinformation', including family.

I go on fb for a break in my day to communicate with my friends !!!
 
I‘ve blocked quite a few someones from my Facebook during the last election crazies and the Covid political insanity. Looks Like I might have to do it again soon. I don’t wish to spend my time with all of that nasty nonsense anymore. There are lots of nice, polite and considerate people out there who make my life better. I want to spend my time with them.
 
I blocked a couple of people from my distant past when I first joined because I didn't want to reconnect with them. Also block accounts of scam friend requests.

I 'unfollow' people who post annoying content ...still friends, but can't see their stuff unless I go to their home page.
 
I've been told that Facebook Marketplace is safer than Craigslist.

Been thinking about joining Facebook just for their. Marketplace.

After reading this thread about Facebook,, may not join it.

Is there any site that is 'safe' from scammers?

Over the years since Craigslist became popular, I've used it.
We've bought a motor home,, backhoe.
Sold snowmobiles, truck.
 
I have blocked people there. No big deal. I post quite a bit there every day. Belong to a number of groups. I do not have it on my phone because I only make telephone calls on my phone.
