Who is the Oldest Person Here?

Thanks Kate. I'm still learning the place. I guess I am a slow learner. Exploring forums and trying to find a way to access profiles.
Nah, not slow learner... this place is massive with all the threads/topics and it takes a while to navigate. When it comes to profiles, there's a setting we can choose to limit access to that, so you won't be able to see everyone's profile if they have restricted it.

Wow, you beat me by 5 years. Good for you. Here, I thought I was the elder citizen of this forum. How wrong I was.
🤩
Well, you ARE one of the elder citizens of this forum. I've been searching this place for those close to my age. We've lived through a lot of history that others have not. Are you too young to remember WW II? I believe I was 14 when the U. S. entered. Life seemed so innocent then. It was certainly less complicated.

Thanks Kate. That may explain my problem.

Your avatar reminds me of the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen on South Padre Island. It really did just take your breath.

I am 66, I was the very youngest of my family and the only one left. (whoops there is a brother 10 years older than I but I would say we are not family any longer, long story)! I am thankful I had children and lots of grandbabies.

I think that all over 80s, should have two Birthdays, like
the Queen did and Charles will do the same, the Queen
was in April and June, I believe, Charles I think will be in,
June and November, June is the official birthday of the
Monarch, the other date is the actual day.

I am looking for two birthday parties every year, we don't
eat or drink much at this age, so two would bring us back
into line.

Mike.

I am 86 and have some memories of WWII. We had dark shades on the windows which were closed during air raids. The top half of headlights on our cars were painted black to avoid detection from above. My sister and brothers were older as were all my cousins. Cousin Bob was a pilot from an aircraft carrier called The Fighting Lady (I think) and there was a movie made about it. We had meat, sugar and gas rations. We knitted squares for the red cross and saved foil. We had a Victory Garden.

what a lot of people don't realise when they restrict people from viewing their profile.. that they also block themselves from receiving PM's (Private messages). Certainly some will have blocked their profile for that very reason, but others will not have realised that blocking PM's is a consequence of blocking profile Info..

I restricted my profile and get PM's just fine.

I restricted my profile and get PM's just fine. Or... not sure now if it's blocked or not... thought I did that some time ago.
that's odd, I wonder if you have something unticked in it which allows your to get PM's...so many people have their PM's blocked because they've blocked their profile..

I was 8 and I vividly remember the expression on my Grandfather’s face when he heard about Pearl Harbor. In looking back I’m sure his first thought was to his only son, early 20s and single. What I remember of the war … male family members going away and being in danger, rationing and coupon books, frequent letters on tissue thin paper, The slightly sick to the stomach feeling when seeing the symbol of Germany or Japan (swastika or giant red ball).
