WOW, 33 things I must have and I didn't even know it. How stupid could I be? And here I thought I enjoyed my last trip and that it worked out well for me. How could I have been so foolish? I must have been miserable because I had few if any of these 33 items. Perhaps this is an early sign of senility or just another serious character defect. I don’t know.

Thanks for reading this. Now I must go down to the Quickie-Loan store and borrow a few thousand dollars to buy all this stuff before I take another trip.

YES. Noise designed to make us spend our money on more stuff.

A few weeks ago, I splurged on a $15 slow cooker. I don’t need it. But, I must admit the beef burgundy I made with it was delicious. I tend to load it up with more veggies, adding broccoli and green beans to the carrots and potatoes.

But, no way am I going to by 33 or even 3 travel things based upon somebody telling me I need it.
 

it is everywhere simple click bait if they get a click it adds up and they are paid by how many times someone sees the stupidity. i see them all over the so called news on the home screen .... lists of stuff so stupid if it was new info to a person i hope that person is under the care of others....
 
Sadly, we live in a world where we are never satisfied with what we have and continue to buy or spend out of boredom.

Our income or financial situation doesn’t seem to have much to do with it, a trip to the mall or a trip to the $tore seems to feed the need for stuff.

Definitely a first world problem.
 
There’s a segment of our population that loves to have the latest and most trendy stuff, convinced that the possession of such makes them better than the masses. Remember, whoever dies with the most stuff wins!

There was some Greek philosopher who liked to go to the marketplace so he could see all of the stuff that he didn’t need… 🤔
 
I know people who are compelled to buy something every day. They don't need it; they just want it, and they deny themselves nothing. Yet they constantly complain about the cost of food, heating, and electricity. :rolleyes:

Sadly, not only. Now we have to juggle with "Social Media clout". People are doing things for the attention they get. First Person Syndrome. Social Media has driven people to think that "staying in touch" with family members includes broadcasting every cup of coffee and plate of pasta they have before them. The world has turned inward.

And bragging about everything such as:

or

” Today I lifted a 200 pound kettle ball above my head, spun it around 5 times and heaved it through the North wall of the gym into the parking lot. A first for me!”

or

“I’m honored to be the first Irish-American 32 year old who has been chosen to be the Grand Poobah of Lodge 328 of the Loyal Order of Hedgehogs. “

Yeah, because we're all so damn special, aren't we? :D

What used to be the unmemorable detritus of our lives - what we ate, what we drink, how we look 24/7 - is now sufficiently important to broadcast.

I watched a police video today of a woman who dialed 911 because she thought a couple was trying to kidnap her children "because they looked nice". Turned out the whole thing was made up for internet clout. Yes... that's the modern day...
