Who or What Are The Robots?

I was looking at the current visitors page, and on the first page alone there were 7 robots. I have seen them on other forums as well. Always wondered about them.

In this context, "robots" are search engine programs that visit websites to pick up pages to list in their search engines. Think: Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, etc.
