to accept a delivery ?

I ordered some batteries from Amazon. Just had notice that delivery will be made between 7.45 an 9.45pm.... ! it'll be pitch dark at that time...

if you live alone would you open your door at that time in the dark for a delivery ?

I would let them leave it on the porch and get it after they leave.
yes all well and good if you have a porch... or a safe area to leave things. May people don't ..in the UK anyway. Many people have their front doors directly on the pavement..like this..

In all the many years I've been buying online, there's never once been a delivery that needed the door to be opened. Everything is placed on the front porch. Only a FedEx driver knocks once in a while, but that's just to announce there's a package on the porch... they knock and head right back for the truck.
as I said above..all well and good if you have a front porch...

I do but check on the camera first.
yes I have a Video ring doorbell... and so I would be ok..plus my front door doesn't open onto the street... but many people don't have either of those things. I do think it's a liberty to expect people to open their doors at 10 o'clock at night for a delivery that's already costing more ( prime) for the service..lots of people are in bed by them as well

That's a risk of using Amazon.
