Why are the 48 hours that make up a weekend longer

than the 48 hours that make up two days in a row on other days?

When I still "really" worked for a living, I looked forward to weekends and they were a whole lot shorter. Now that I'm a "retired" widow and work three days one week and four days the next, weekends get here too fast and last too long!

Maybe you are really enjoying the work and socialization at your job. Since becoming a widow do you have anyone else at home to interact with or are you alone? Sorry to hear you are a widow now. How long since you lost your hubby? Maybe you are still trying to make normal adjustments.

For me I am retired and no longer working. One day seems much like the next and weekends aren't important to me anymore, except if I want to get some business done and remember it's the weekend.

Not retired, yet... So, my 48 hours goes by much too quickly. I mean look at that, it's already 1400hr on Saturday. Oh. My. Gawd. The weekend's almost over!

Ozark, it's been more than four years since my DH died, so let's hope I've made whatever adjustments there were to make!

It's not that I'm alone here. I live in a granny flat attached to my DD/DSIL's house, so for all intents and purposes, there's family. Not quite the same as being alone, but still "alone". I do really enjoy my work, although there's not much that could be called socialization because my clients are rarely at home when I'm there.

Before DH died, we were so busy that we had to keep a calendar so we'd know which Saturday it was every day. You've seen the bumper sticker that says "I'm retired; every day is Saturday!" right? :)

That Guy, my gramma used to tell me that the older we get, the faster the time goes. You'd better hurry. The weekend is almost over, you youngster, you!:p

Weekends have never meant much to me... during my working life as a shift-worker, I worked 2 x10 hour day shifts, then 2 x 14 hour night shifts and then had 4 days off.
So... 4 on and 4 off. :)

Now I'm retired, every day is Sunday ! :) ('cept for the 2 days per week that I work part time on a farm)
