Everywhere I look these days (on tv or net) food is being served on wood plates
or platters...I think it's called Charcuterie or something like that...where did I miss
this fad's beginning?? Why are we doing this? what the H is the point of going back
7000 years to take up wood again??? any ideas???

I've been curious about the same question, @hawkdon ... people eating with wooden utensils, wooden cutting boards all the rage again, wooden bowls. just a trendy fad or is there a reason behind it.

A) wasn't part of leaving wood behind was to decrease deforestation?
B) Cutting meat on a wooden board-- ewwww. Have we figured out a way to sterilize wood?

Ok, I get that wood is more "eco-friendly" but I wonder about the cleanliness aspect.

Didn't realize it was so popular. I'm good with my thrifted dishes and mugs. I don't need the newest and popular thing. But I think some people are a bit obsessed with it. Wait a few years, it'll all be at the thrift store.

I have heard that wood cutting boards are actually more hygienic than the plastic ones. Who knows?
