Why did you name your pet?

I got two kittens. The boy wasn't the swiftest one in the litter, and "Pete" kind of fit. I couldn't think of a name for the female, till she was climbing all over me. I said, "you little turkey", so she became Turkey.
Why did you give your pet its name?

The best pal on four legs I once had, well, I couldn't keep calling him 'Sh*ttyar*e' all his life, he responded much better to Crapper. 😊

My first house bunny was sold to me as a dwarf female. I named her Beezus, short for Beatrice, in honor of Beatrice Potter.

When "she" turned out to be neither dwarf NOR a female, I renamed "him" Beezel, short for Beelzebub. It was an appropriate name as he was a delightfully devilish critter.

The next house bunny was Weasel, because of his coloring and because it rhymed with Beezel.

Way back when, we bought 2 Siamese kittens on the same day,but from different litters - the first, a flame point that we named Newman, as in Paul Newman for his blue eyes, and the second became Asher, named after Dr Dan Asher, from the California Institute for the Mellow. (Doonesbury)

20 some years later, we got a Shih Tzu named Annie. Then 2 years later got a toy poodle, and named him Hoot, so we had "Hoot n Annie".

My current dog came from Romania, and already had a name: Moto.

I had a previous dog that I didn't get around to naming, so she became simply "Puppy".

The name just came to my head.
It’s a cute name that really suites him.
This is the first time my husband and I have had a male dog. He’s the 6th dog we’ve bought.

They all have their individual characteristics yet collectively do the same types of doggie type things. You can’t beat the love of a dog.
