Why do I Use Facebook & Why Do You?

Because of my age it's a great way to communicate with family & friends both Domestic & Abroad and let them know that I am still alive and functioning.l

I did a Kickstarter campaign on Face Book for my Callie's vet bills. I saw my grand son's first pictures. Saw the page of a daughter who X ed me out of her life...basically my last message was "I will always be your "birth mother" beeyatch, but have a nice life". Breath-taking photos of my junior high school crush as a handsome man. But no, I'm good without FB.

I don't use facebook at all. The friends and family I have, I keep in touch with via snail mail, email or telephone.

I use it to stay in touch with family and a few old friends.

It is becoming more and more annoying as they feed me things that they think I would like to see, I really don't like others thinking for me.

It is my custom to go in each year on New Year's day and cull out the list of "friends" I've accumulated, does anyone else do a similar house cleaning routine?

That's my answer too !

I'd like to, tens of millions of people seem to get a lot of pleasure from it, but I simply can't get the hang of it and there doesn't seem to be an instruction manual!

Same as me......I don't do Facebook and I also don't Text, Tweet, or Skype and I own a older, old school style flip phone that I very rarely carry.

I supposed by today's technology standards I'm pretty much a dinasour and I'm fine with that.

I stay in touch with family and a few people. Then I got flooded with friend requests from people from high school who barely gave me the time of day back then. I kept the high school people on my friends list until just recently when I deleted all but a handful. Now most of my FB "friends: are people I have never met in real life. There is a game on FB called Criminal Case which I have gotten totally addicted to. Most of my FB friends are fellow players. It is a hidden object game where you are solving crimes and stuff. I find it a bit mentally challenging, to keep the brain sharper. So, I mainly use Facebook for interacting with these people and playing the game.

I'm pretty much the same, flip phone and all..

Years ago, a con-woman swindled three car dealerships, and a bunch of other cons. She used a fake name, fake addresses, fake everything else, but she used my phone number. Why? I don't know. I never met her. I was besieged with phone calls- at least 10-15/day. I had to change numbers, repeatedly, but they can find that out easily. This went on for years. Facebook keeps asking for my telephone number. Yeah. Sure. Right away........... I guess I'm old school. I feel putting down a lot of personal info is going to bite you in the behind.

I use Facebook mostly to see what is going on with my daughter who lives in VA. and of course to see the Grand kids. I love the videos they send me. I have exactly seven friends on Facebook and that is quite enough for me. A few people I know personally have fifty or sixty "friends" , maybe even more. It isn't possible for them to have that many friends. Sometimes I think they end up friending each other so they can boast about how many they have. If I have to go to that extent to have a friend, I'd say I'm pretty messed up socially. I still send and love to receive greeting cards. My mom use to say, "you don't have to send me any gifts but I would like to be remembered once in awhile with a greeting card or a little note." I feel the same way.

Mostly because of the yard sale site, the community affairs, and the buy and sell. I have an even dozen people in my friend's list, they are friends or family. I assume there is some sort of contest going to see who can have the most friends because I get requests from people I don't know and do not know me, I just ignore those. Oh yes, I do not use my real name on Facebook. My friends and family know the name I use.
