Why do some people find pleasure in hurting other people's feelings?

No specific example. Just a general question.

Two of my favorite signatures on the forum are:
@Pinky's - Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible. - Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama ☮ and
@PamfromTx - We don't have to agree on anything to be kind to one another.

Sometimes, hurting someone's feelings may be inevitable, especially in situations that truth must be told.
But there are cases that hurting someone's feelings with one's words or actions, is completely unnecessary and senseless. Yet some people choose to do it and they derive a pleasure out of doing it.
Why do you think kindness is so "expensive"?

Sometimes, hurting someone's feelings may be inevitable, especially in situations that truth must be told.
But there are cases that hurting someone's feelings with one's words or actions, is completely unnecessary and senseless. Yet some people choose to do it and they derive a pleasure out of doing it.

If they do it with the intent of hurting others, that is there Karma - how you handle it is yours. I have learned in my 61 yrs that when people are unkind, it is not about you, its about what they are going through. I don't take it personal. Soooo refreshing not to carry other people's negative baggage. :love:

I've known some hurtful folks
Seems it usually boils down to them hurting inside

Break the ice a bit, and they pretty much unload
Some folks carry a lot of baggage.....a......lot
Then after showing you some, they pack it all back up, and tote it around some more

The tougher thing in that situation, is when they try to get you to side in with them
and go against someone else.....

My usual recourse is asking why they don't talk to whoever they are talking about
'Why dontcha tell them?'

Then they go away

......and talk to somebody else...about you
 
People that shame others usally want something from the person they are shaming or want to control that person. In the last couple of days I have seen some documentaries dealing with the souls or spirits of people. Some people are more spiritual and some people are more animal. I have been wondering if there could be some people that realy have no spirit or soul. They are just as much animals as lions or bears and live among us without us realizng it.

Would it make it easier to cope with them as @Ladybj so brilliantly said earlier? If we think of their negativity is there due to their hurting inside shouldn't it make it easier for us to deal with them, with kindness instead of defensiveness?

Gossip is one of the worst evils. But there are people who are being evil in your face. They enjoy hurting people without needing to hide.

Another good reason for someone being negative! The need to control someone. I'm going to disagree with the "animal" part, though. I think some animals are a lot more kind to each other or people than what people are. :)
