Why do we sneeze?

Ok, so I had a sneezing fit today. I normally never sneeze more than once. Twice in succession is unusual for me. Ron sneezes a minimum of 6 times, which is always startling to me, but he's done that his whole life. Today, for the first time ever, I sneezed 8 times in succession!!! So of course I googled that because it was so unusual, and discovered some interesting facts.

It's not just pollens in the air, or irritants (like pepper) that can cause sneezing. I had NO IDEA that sneezing could be the result of all these things....ESPECIALLY THE LAST ONE!!!

  • An allergy to pollen, mold, dander, or dust
  • Breathing in certain medicines (such as corticosteroids)
  • The common cold or the flu
  • Other airborne irritants, such as powder or air pollution
  • Bright light (like the sun)
  • Spicy foods
  • Strong emotions
  • Or orgasms

Well, looks like you're one lucky lady. Is Ron taking Nugenics?

Why do some people sneeze multiple times?

Researchers aren’t sure why some people sneeze multiple times. It may be a sign that your sneezes aren’t quite as strong as a person who only sneezes once. It could also be a sign that you have ongoing or chronic nasal stimulation or inflammation, possibly as a result of allergies.

Can orgasms cause sneezes?

Indeed, it’s possible. ResearchersTrusted Source have discovered that some people sneeze when they have sexual thoughts or when they orgasm. It’s not clear how the two things are connected.
I always sneeze several times, often anything up to 8 or 10 times... rarely ever once...

Sometimes I sneeze at whole lot. Especially after I eat. I mean at a machine gun rate of speed. I have to get up and leave restaurants because after the “third God Bless you” from other diners, I can’t even stop long enough to thank them and I know I still have another 10 or 15 coming up. Embarrassing and “how not to make friends” in this covid era! 🥴. Embarrassing 😩

Okay, let’s rule out orgasms right off the bat. 😇 My sneezing starts if I eat something that irritates my throat. That sets off about 3 or 4 right in a row. During the day, the pine tree pollen raises heck too.
I tried to explain to my girlfriend, "Honey, it's not that I don't want to cuddle after.....it's your sneezing."
Nothing says "Desire" like a snot spray.

Every day, I sneeze twice per day. Sometimes together, though not usually. No particular reason. It’s out of the blue.

The one thing that definitely causes me to sneeze is cutting onions. Those days I get in more sneezing.

One of my random sneezes happened in the grocery store lineup. Fortunately I had my mask on & was able to get my face into my elbow quickly. That probably backed the lineup a bit.
