Why eat something you know is going to be sour?

There is a proliferation(good word that) of Soured Sweets on the market.
Even Sour Koalas.
So sour, brings tears to the eyes.
Sour? Throw it out.

It is interesting that we all enjoy certain ‘good’ sour, sweet, spicy, pungent, foods and reject others.

Years ago I read an article where the author believed that our difference in taste was a primitive defense mechanism that helped to insure the survival of the human race.

The idea being that not all members of the tribe would be drawn to eat poison mushrooms or something similar. Some do some don’t, some survive some don’t, life goes on.

I usd to eat 'sour keys' occasionally. Haven't had one in years but I did prefer them over something sweet.
