Why I Joined This Forum

nope already retired . but our planning is always being improved upon and nudged for better results with less dependency on the whims of markets and taxes . there is also so much myth and wrong information spewed on forums i try to correct it and explain things to folks so they can make better decisions .

when you have little or no pensions and you are on the YOYO PLAN (you are on your own ) there is just so much to know .especially here , where your fair share of taxes is whatever you can legally figure out you owe .

all the tools and laws are in place but it is up to you to figure it all out . most planners today are useless and not well schooled in the retirement end yet . they are only really familiar with the accumulation years as they followed the boomers

From talks I've had with my sister who is in the US, it seems much more complicated there. Taxes for me are very simple even with pensions in both countries. But that's because my husband's income doesn't count with mine.

Oops. I think we have hijacked this thread!

yep we have , but i guess that is the reason there are so little discussions on those topics here . to many varied country's and systems . it can also be because many folks don't have substaintial assets and so they don't have the choices and decisions to make that go with having more retirement assets .

that other forum i posted is filled with successful people who unlike sites like mr money moustache where quite a few retire early on shoe string budgets these folks have substantial assets behind them and all the choices that go with that

I joined mainly for the Word Games, which I really enjoy, I usually skim through to see new topics posted each day and read relevant posts, replying if I have something to contribute

The members of Senior Forums seem to respect others opinions and varied views plus I've not encountered any unpleasantness in comparison to other sites I've visited :)

I joined because of the really nice people and the great posts I've read here. I'll get a good giggle, or learn something new, and folks have been very helpful with my questions or threads.

I'll come here in the morning, get caught up on current events, scan the latest going on's, & read a funny post or two. I read a lot more than I post, it's like reading a "real time" newspaper here..:adoration:

And like the post above me wrote, when opposing views are being expressed it is still civil with respect. Thanks for having this forum and for welcoming me into it.

I don't "participate" in the Word Games...but they can be of great value as people get older. These games help make a person "think"....which can be a great way to stay mentally alert. It's a given that the brain is just like a muscle, in that if you "don't use it, you lose it". I get my "mental" exercise by playing online poker...matching wits with others in these card games helps keep my old Noodle from deteriorating.

To block games: Go up to Settings - General Settings - go down to Exclude Forums in New Posts - 21

That's the only forum I have blocked Ameriscot because the daily post results are so extensive. I do like the games though, and when I'm in the mood to play, I just click on the Games forum and have some fun. I click on New Posts, if you click on What's New, the excluded results will show.

I agree Don, the games are of great value to stimulate the mind as we get older, plus they can bring a lot of smiles to your day. So true, use it or lose it.
