Why just one watch?

Many people don't even where one watch today, but those that do why just one? Why not a watch on each wrist?

And your point is???

If you wear a watch, why would you want to have one on each wrist? So that you can see GMT and British Summer Time as well??

Sorry, but I don't get your argument.
Isn't a watch now more of a show of status and style? If so, why just one? More watch more status, you get?

I wear a watch... I always have, I always will.. I have an Iphone.. as @katlupe said , not everyone wants to carry a phone around just to know the time.

Personally I think that's craziness.. carrying a phone to tell the time.. and therefore making one disabled due to being unable to use one hand..when the watch just simpy slips on the wrist and we can have both hands free...

I have several watches these are just 3 that I wear on a daily basis

I have both a regular watch and an Apple Watch. The apple is for daily use, the regular watch I wear like jewelry when I’m dressing up. I also have an iPhone as well as a car, both of which display the time.

There’s little chance I will lose track of the time. šŸ˜‚

To address the OP’s question, my watch only feels right on my left wrist. Putting it, or an additional watch on my other wrist just feels weird.

Beyond all that though …. And correct me if I’m wrong …. But the watch controls are on the right side of the watch as you’re facing it, making it awkward and inconvenient to use them if yo wear a watch in the right hand.

I have four quality watches which I purchased during my working days. I no longer wear them because I no longer need to. Except for medical appointments, nothing in my life is time critical.

^ A watch is handy. When I'm doing something that doesn't involve talking on the phone (yes, I actually have other things to do with my life), I can just look at my wrist. I don't have to fumble around in my pockets to get out my phone, activate it, swipe it, and put it back in my pocket. My grandfather always had a pocket watch, which was cool, but not efficient.

When I worked, I wore a watch everyday. Now I only wear a watch to church, weddings and funerals. If I really need to know the time I check my phone.

Why?
Because there is no point to it.
Because you would not be showing "style" like you think...

Since you think a watch on each wrist is indicative of status and style, why not include pocket watches too?
Maybe people will think more of you if you wear two watches on each wrist! :)

could be the next big fashion statement!

By their nature, watches are tools which show time: this would imply that one should wear only one watch as wearing two doesn't really give much functional advantage.

On the other hand, no one really needs a watch these days, so they are more and more just "jewelry which happen to tell time", thus making it more acceptable to wear two at the same time.

Having a "jewelry watch" (regular watch) and an Apple watch/fitness tracker at the same time absolutely makes sense, as they serve a different purpose (even if the Apple watch does show time too).

I say wear whatever you like, most people aren't going to pay attention anyway.

I loved this post until it got to the bit "most people aren't going to pay attention anyway."

People aren't looking toward me as a fashion statement. I wear a watch for myself because I want to glance and see the time. My company gave it to me as a retirement gift.

I must be in an odd spot. I only check the time to be sure I wake DH up on time to go to
work his 3 days a week, then when I have an appointment someplace or an invite time to
attend something. Oh, and to take other meds 2 hours after the one.
I am a morning person and as long as there is daylight I pretty much know about what time it is.
Gee, with pause and play TV now I don't even have to worry about missing a show.

Time doesn't worry me enough to wear a watch, smart or not.

I like watches.. they're practical and look nice.. but haven't owned one in quite a few years.
