Why slave all day over a hot stove ?

A reporter at our local newspaper wanted to prove that you could shop for your Thanksgiving dinner entirely at 7-11. He got Banquet turkey slices, instant mashed potatoes, canned green beans, brown and serve rolls, cranberry sauce, Stove Top stuffing, a can of sweet potatoes, mini marshmallows and brown sugar, and those little pecan pies. Voila! Thanksgiving dinner. And you could pick up a lottery ticket, a six-pack and cigarettes while you're at it. And gas up your car so you're ready for Black Friday shopping.

Abe's Cajun Restaurant did my turkey already carved and ready to heat along with Cajun cornbread dressing. Luby's did the sides and I did the brandied cranberries and Patti Labelle did the sweet potato pie. Add sweet tea, milk, water, and wine and we are good to go. First time I have not slaved in the kitchen for days!

My wife used to spend hours in the kitchen on Thanksgiving and Christmas...no more...now, its the daughters turns to do the honors. We'll go to one later today, and the other on Christmas. My wife did make a couple of nice apple pies yesterday to take with us today.
