Why Such Protest on Certain Subjects?

If I'd have to guess, I'd say it was the copyright infringement and not the topic. I don't often say a lot in those topics, or political topics, but I enjoy reading them... There are a number of religion topics here now, and there's not been a problem with them that I know... but the sermon that was copied and pasted had a copyright notice on it with "all rights reserved." If the poster wanted to use it (it was interesting!) permission from the website where it originated would have been easy to obtain, I think.
Yes, I think you're right.

Yes, I saw that... maybe she went to get author permission? Not sure one of those bots could have caught it so soon, but I don't think it was about the topic at all... it was the "all rights reserved." Maybe she'll stop by here and let us know.
EDIT: I just checked to make sure.... there are indeed copyright bots. (aka content recognition software.)
Good enough. Whether a bot or the administrator deleted it, it's gone.

The issue for me was that the posts in question were 14,000 words long. I don't have the patience to read all of that...no matter what the topic of discussion. Brevity is the soul of wit.

Too verbose for me.

I don't ever use the "ignore" button because it reminds me of Berlin before the war. I mean, It's
complaining about your neighbor because they annoy you without taking responsibility for
repercussions. haha! Just me. What do I know?
Moving on is good.

I kind of agree with this one. Besides, I sometimes agree with people I often disagree with and that is refreshing and I would not have known if I had put them on ignore. Build bridges not walls.

I may have spoken out about the copyrighted material but please leave the new poster in peace. She has posted about five, six threads since her arrival and those who are of like mind will find her and those who aren't interested can always by-pass her threads. Since I belong to a denomination that is less literal in the interpretation of scripture I won't be visiting since I would only sow dissent with my remarks. Please remember what freedom of speech is all about and please stay as friendly as you have been so far! Even to the "religious!" :)
It's so easy to not open threads.

I saw some of her posts, and I am not like minded. Did not bother me, I just moved on. Hate to see us limit what folks can talk about too much.

I agree with this and can't be too opinionated as I haven't read any of the posts in the thread, but some here have commented on the thread being dogma/preaching rather than inviting discussion, which can be a bit tiresome. If that is what happened.

(Seems like more than 200 words. tho')

I deleted those threads, not because they were about religions which is not a banned topic here. They were long winded and poorly formatted copy & paste, hard to read, I don't think anyone would read it regardless of the content, they even looked spammy to me.

I'm not saying I've never done it. Just that it's easy not to and some of them are definite steer clears for me. :)
I hear ya. That’s why I liked hearladys list of what to avoid instead of diving right in. It’s that patience vs spontaneity thing for me. Now I think just because I can respond doesn’t mean I ‘have’ to. 😅

Origin of religion? The invention of god for the sake of humankind
