Ok, so the Romans created Christianity. And then they didn't like what they had created, and decided to persecute the followers of Christianity? Crucifying them, throwing them to wild beasts in the arenas, etc.? And this is supposed to encourage people to become Christians?

Let me know how that makes sense.

although a little slow going

I just finished it and you are right it is slow going, I started before your post. Particularly slow when he is talking about the whole issue of the Trinity and how many Gods issue. I did learn some new things from the last few episodes, my understanding of the Council of Nicaea has been completely wrong.
