the platform is based on figuring that out for you... restructuring your environment to fit their needs. it's okay... you can trust the control operators (oops!)No, I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it anyway.

Isn't that like saying you can trust the government?the platform is based on figuring that out for you... restructuring your environment to fit their needs. it's okay... you can trust the control operators (oops!)
Makes sense.Quite apart from the eavesdropping, it encourages laziness. People go to the gym to get exercise, then sit on their bums and instruct a machine to do the simplest tasks at home
i would agree with your observation if it wasn't for the additional stress it incurs to ones existence. this provides stimulation through aggravation but with the compliment of interconnectivity... yay! yer loosing weight (too bad it's brain cells but no matter.)Quite apart from the eavesdropping, it encourages laziness. I suppose there are those who live alone and such devices give them something to talk to. I use my pets for the same purpose, although I'm a slave to them not the other way round!i would agree with your observation if it wasn't for the additional stress it incurs to ones existence. this provides stimulation through aggravation but with the compliment of interconnectivity... yay! yer loosing weight (too bad it's brain cells but no matter.)
Ah, but you have to have the technology to be watched. My phones, as in cell and landline, are so old that you could be forgiven for thinking that The Romans left them behind. My TV has only just come into the world of colour. The radio was called a wireless when it was new and as for this computer, children's abacus have better technology in them.Yes, you are being watched and followed..![]()
Like what ?... I ask Alexa to turn on the lights, and it does.. me doing it instead of the machine, isn't going to cause me heart disease due to lack of exercise...other than that my Amazon and google Nest hubs are just a source of information...Quite apart from the eavesdropping, it encourages laziness. dear... please stop that? (Isn't that like saying you can trust the government?

in 20 years someone is going to say '' I remember my grandma being freaked out by the old fashioned Amazon Echo machine''None of that nonsense for me. Just the idea that I've been in someone's home with an Alexa sitting on a table, freaks me out.
I disable Alexa on all my devices. I guess I just don't need assisting.
I also don't need my granddaughter saying "Alexa, play Baby Shark!" 20 times a day like at her house.![]()
Sorry! I am too I'm afraid!Understood! A few years ago I actually heard someone ask the VA what the weather was like... got myself the hairy eyeball when I walked to the window and said "partly sunny" before Alexa spit out the weather. Oh great... now I'm going to have Baby Shark going through my head all day... crazy earworms! Gee thanks, @hearlady

so could you see what the forecast was for the following week by looking out of the window ?Understood! They didn't ask for the forecast, just the weather.... trying to figure out whether to wear a coat or light jacket.so could you see what the forecast was for the following week by looking out of the window ?![]()
This is my take on the Alexa fetish, too. A few of my friends think having the latest technology is cool, but they also have lazy tummies from not needing to get up and get moving while home.Quite apart from the eavesdropping, it encourages laziness. People go to the gym to get exercise, then sit on their bums and instruct a machine to do the simplest tasks at home.
Not that is giving me something to think about.....how about finding a friend or two with two legs, and a desire for some human interaction face to face?I suppose there are those who live alone and such devices give them something to talk to. I use my pets for the same purpose, although I'm a slave to them not the other way round!
I hope you don't use a TV.. or a Vacuum.. or a Computer , a washing machine.. or a dishwasher.. ... just in case you lose the ability to think for yourself..I wouldn't have one on the basis if the belief that we are becoming too dependent on our electronics which may atrophy our ability to think for ourselves.
I may actually consider changing my mind about owning one if someone can figure out how to make her clean windows. Or potties.Alexa may give a week's forecast, but it is no more accurate than the weatherman on the evening news. The difference is he tells you up front weather changes, and check back in two days....it will change. So Alexa needs to take notes. I wonder if she does that for you too? Most probably.![]()
But those don't help you with managing your life to the extent the PAs do.I hope you don't use a TV.. or a Vacuum.. or a Computer , a washing machine.. or a dishwasher.. ... just in case you lose the ability to think for yourself..![]()
