Why we fear hospitals

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
Just heard on our local news here in Phoenix about a local woman who went to the emergency room for a eight hours. When she received her bill it was for $60,000 for procedures and 10 days stay (which was all erroneous). She has finally convinced them it was an error but so far has not been rectified. Happens a lot.

There is no bigger fraud than medical billing.
12 years ago, my sister took me to the ER after she tested my glucose with her meter & it was over 500. I was there for 2 hours with IV insulin.
When the billing person came in with the bill, I gave her my credit card & they ran it for $3,500.00. Well....OK, whatever.
A few weeks later, I started getting bills for several thousand dollars from other medical centers 100 miles away that I'd never been to. When I called to find out what they were, I was told, "We sent your charts to other doctors for evaluation & you have to pay them, too."
I said, "Oh...really? I didn't ask for additional evaluation; I already knew I was diabetic before I came here, so if you wanted other doctors to "evaluate" me, you can pay them."
Yeah...."Pay other doctors you've never seen for evaluation...." Revenue Enhancement.........

So far we don't have billing problems with hospitals,
but who knows what the future will hold.

During recent discussions about Brexit and leaving with
"No Deal", you President wanted to make a deal for the
NHS which is our health service, so maybe one day.

Unless you are visibly bleeding out, bodily mangled, or presenting with heart attack symptoms, you can wait an awfully long time to be seen in an emergency room. I waited for almost three hours with a person suffering from severe pain. Emergency room bills are usually high, and insurance chides you or balks outright for not seeing a general care provider first despite extended waits of days to weeks possible in scheduling there...

I believe those in the medical profession should be paid well for their services but profit should not be a part of it. It is obscene for a one person to profit only because another is sick. This is doubly true for pharma.

Most for-profit companies are more concerned about the quality of their stock price than the quality of their service or product.

I fear hospital most because aside from the money aspect, which is insane, people catch bad infections, pneumonia, etc., after being in a hospital for something totally different. .. Just a great place to catch a nasty bug if your system isn't strong.

When we first started hearing about MRSA, they didn't tell us the cause - doctors not washing hands between patients.

You mention MRSA winn231, it has been proven here that
if all the light switches and door plates be changed back
from plastic to copper, then all serious cross contamination
of infections would stop, MRSA in particular was mentioned.
