15-20 years ago, my then primary care doctor started telling me that my bp was rather high and encouraging me to start taking bp medication. The numbers he gave me were just marginally high so I kept refusing the meds.
Then, after a couple of years of this, my bp was suddenly normal. It turned out that they discovered that the nurse who had been taking my blood pressure (manual sphygmomanometer) had a hearing loss. Oops!
