Wife’s arm not broken but…..

Ouch!

My wife fell and broke one wrist and badly sprained and bruised another in October. The one that was not broken looked much like your wife's. It healed in 2 or 3 weeks. The broken one is another story, but her cast is off and she's in physical therapy now so its getting better.

She was also misdiagnosed in the ER. They x-rayed and told he both were broken, and set both in splints. She then went to an orthopedist who rex-rayed and told her only one was broken. That was good news, however the broken one had been badly set by the hospital. She had to have surgery and get it reset with screws and a metal plate. We learned that ERs are not great places for assessing and treating injuries like this.

Hope your wife recovers quickly.

..and you guys are paying for these misdiagnosis ...
Oh we sure do! Bleep the U.S. medical system.

I had a good experience with my recent carpal tunnel release surgery. It was done in office, only local numbing and no general sedation. I was able to drive myself home. The doctor said some have to go to the surgery center because they can't tolerate the initial needles. Wimps.

Don't even get me started on the cataract surgery. I couldn't see anything after the second eye was done. My prescription glasses were obsolete, and they told me to get over the counter readers which did not work! I was so mad. In the end, I figured it out myself. I could see distance with my prescription readers but not close up. So I got those clip on magnifiers at the craft store and could see close up with those over the old readers. I had to figure this out myself and walked around like that for weeks. I only had a couple of people ask me about them. Luckily the lenses flipped up and down and I could work. If it wasn't for this, I would not have been able to work until the new prescriptions were picked up. Yeah thanks for the aftercare. They just want to do the surgery, fling you out the door and get their money. I'm not going back to this office again.

You should have gone back & told them what happened. Where we got our cataract surgery done, We've talked with a couple of people that was back in because they had to re-do the surgery.

Our Dr told us first when we went in to consult for the surgery that sometimes things can go wrong, that's why we only do one eye at a time. If it does go wrong let us know so we can fix it free of charge. Luckily both my wife & I never had any problems.

The surgery turned out fine I guess, though my sight is actually worse WITHOUT my glasses then before. I have a complex prescription with a lot of astigmatism. They just never told me my sight could be so bad after the second surgery. They don't even check your eyes for a month after the surgery to allow healing and then it takes two weeks or so for the glasses to come in. I think it's ridiculous that I had to figure out how to see on my own. I had put my readers on and realized I can see the TV! It was by accident that I realized I could see distance with the readers after the surgery. To tell someone just get cheap readers when they have to know this doesn't work for everyone isn't right. I would have had to take 6 weeks off from work if I was not able to find my own solution. Care and aftercare was very, very lacking. And again, I'm done with this office. Glasses are a big money rip off anyway.
