Will doublemasking prevent the variant virus?

hahahaha! My mask was stolen, (!!!????!!!???) so, my daughter sent me a new one. I laugh every time I put it on because inside is a

BRA PAD! hahahahaa1!

When will they be out with the one dose vaccine?
I'm kinda hoping they make the vaccine into a GUMMY!

What in the world?

Do you find it's harder to breathe through a mask that has a thicker liner/insert, Gaer?

I'm in prefect health and find I labour somewhat when it comes to comfortable breathing through even a thin paper version.

Do you ladies sew?

I make masks for the family and I found a couple really good patterns/instructions on youtube using "breathable masks" in search.

My son and his wife both work full time so for their masks I made little structures using strips of plastic cut from those clear plastic clam containers that bakery and deli products come in at many supermarkets...the structure is basically a simple, very open-weave cage that you wear over your nose and mouth, under the mask. Holds the mask off all your breathing holes.

Yes indeed, I do sew, Mur, but we have masks like you've never seen. I've lost count of the number that were gifted to us by family/friends (homemade cloth and store-bought paper ones), and dear husband has brought home dozens.

Very unique idea you have forming a sort of cage inside the ones you make.

It's food for thought and I appreciate your input and mention of.

Marg: No, No problem!
MUrrmurr: Used to sew, woodworking, woodcarving, OMG! All kinds of things! No more! I only do painting illustration, sculpting and a lot of writing now. I have way too many ideas and have to limit creations.
But that's very inventive, Murrmurr! Proud of you!

We now have a one dose vaccine here..hope it’s what I get...and they seem certain it’s going be annual vaccine here like the flu one.
As for two masks-one gives me a red,hot face( never been able to stand anything over my face). Two would be disastrous!

I can't wear the behind the ear masks; same with both sons. Sigh...currently I have the ones with 2 elastic bands and two beads that you pull to tightening and an inside wire? sewn along the nose so you can hold it down over the nose. These were made by a friend of my s-i-l. Can seem to buy these online and not in stores. Can't imagine having to double mask. Sigh...

For a quick trip into the grocery store, I tried double masking. It wasn’t good. I couldn’t get my breath and then started a dry cough. Good thing it was a quick trip.

There’re are too many KN95s that are counterfeit so I’m not willing to try them until they’re assured safe & plentiful. The cost is crazy. Too much for a ten minute use and then disposing.

That Cool Turtle might be ok.

We wear N-95 or KN-95 masks now. I see people on TV actually wearing another mask on top of these now.

You can tell if the KN95's are real...there are several videos on the web and
the mask should have the GB # on the mask as well as the identification KN95. The masks have 5 layers.

The CDC also has info on them.

what would 2 or more masks do ....... increase the touching adjusting etc to mask?
if virus is getting thru masks ........ it is at the gaps or if like so many people who do not cover their nose etc....not it went through layers.......got tired and gave up

I feel like this is desperate ideas that have zero basis in preventing a virus....
i had a person tell me "well maybe i will just get one or two viruses get past both of the masks. instead of many of the virus........."

i guess she thinks virus needs to meet a nice girl ... date awhile and settle down........ before reproducing 😂

I have enough trouble breathing through one mask, so I would never try two. However, all my cloth masks came with a little pocket inside where you are supposed to slide an extra "filter" to give you further protection. It's a nuisance, as the filters have to be removed every time you wash the mask, and then slipped inside again. So most of the time I don't use them. But I think the masks usually come with the filter included, for those who want them.

I discovered something by accident today. I had to go inside a store and had been wearing the KN-95 alone and had been having a terrible time with them. They are made of a more slippery material or maybe it is the metal nose piece. Anyway my glasses were always slipping down when I wore one. It was annoying and to stop it, I had to push my glasses up too far on my face. Then I was looking through the wrong part of the bifocal, which made me dizzy. I have a box of the disposal masks that I bought early in the pandemic and decided to wear one over the KN-95. It kept my glasses from slipping down. I am going to keep doing that.

I think some people wear the outer mask so the more expensive inner mask can be re-used since the outer mask can be washed or thrown out.

My N-95 masks really fit tight since they have straps that go behind your head. The KN-95 are not as tight since the loops go behind the ears. Both are on the CDC page as being authentic.

Between glasses and removing my hat, I don’t want the N-95. They’re too tight.

I find the regular 3 layer masks snug.
