Will I Get Put Out of My Apt?

My manager had a cookout tonight and I went out there late and I was with my dog Suzy. Another dog made a loud noise when some guy tried to pick him up. So he put the dog down. The dog's owner said that the dog does that a lot he's just sensitive. The manager then blamed my dog for making the other dog make that loud noise because on occasion she will growl a little bit at some dogs. But she didn't do that tonight. I got mad and told her that my dog Suzy didn't do a thing to the other dog and she said we know what Suzy is like. I then told her to ask the other dog's owner what happened because she was there as I was and my dog who was just sitting there doing nothing. I was really tired of her making my dog out to be Godzilla when she is a little Shih Tzu that is so friendly almost all the time. Anyway the owner of the other dog just dropped her head down and wouldn't even look at me and I just walked away and went home. I wonder if I am going to be told to leave here now.

As the owner of a dog that scares even law enforcement. No you have nothing to worry about...if there is something said pull someone over privately and state your case. A Shih Tzu? Yup bloodthirsty killers as a breed. Really the right officer and all will be fine.

I can't imagine you getting thrown out of you apartment for a non-incident. Seems like with the people there, you're better off keeping Suzy away from them. Does the other owner have some kind of a personal gripe with you? I don't understand why she would just hang her head and not say your dog wasn't involved.

I certainly hope not Ruthanne. Do you have a lease?

I had a shih tsu for almost 15 years, they are such timid dogs with a very friendly nature.
My lease is going to be renewed soon.

I know you are kidding about the Shih Tzus!

I don't know why but maybe because I was annoyed and she couldn't handle it.

I hope it goes all right for you. What is your building's policy on dogs and their behaviors? If they allow dogs in the building, they must know incidents such as as you've described will occassionally happen.

Should I send the furkids over to help you straighten this out? Annie's a 15 y/o Shih Tzu, blind and deaf with bad rear hips, but still a fighter. Hoot's a less than 8 lb toy Poodle that will go all kamikaze if needed. :)

Dogs are permitted. Suzy didn't do anything! She was 2' away from the other dog when it cried out. It cried out when another tenant tried to pick him up.

Ruthanne, I doubt very much you can get evicted for your dog, as others have dogs in your building. Check with your government rent control department to verify your rights as a tenant.

Oh my goodness, no! I am sorry that this incident happened, Ruthanne... I know that must have been hurtful.
Its only when a pet causes an 'actual threat' can a landlord take action of any kind...and that hardly happened. Good luck to you! I am sure all will be well...

Thank you Cookie and Bettyann. I am still upset about this. When I was talking to the manager last night outside she just started to ignore me and I walked away. This is a good place to live as I have garage parking, the neighbors don't bother me, the rent has gone up but I have subsidized housing.
