Will it work as mosquito repellent?

A lady on an FB gardening thread said her friend told her that Jergens Cherry Almond Lotion acts as a mosquito repellent. She tried it, and reported that it actually works. DD and I bought some today. If it works, fine; if not, what the heck, we still have some nice lotion. I haven't tried it yet because I'd already covered up with mosquito repellent. I'll report back tomorrow.

I take.a odorless.garlic tablet..
works throughout the body
↑ ↑ Most all of the above is not gonna work for most people to prevent Mosquitos. Sorry ↑↑ ... :cautious: ...
They come out of wet areas and are voraciously hungry. Dry up the wet area near you is a best for u plan.
Fill in a low area on your property to push the water off the lawn. Insect spray killers are a plan, last resort,
not all that healthy. Catching something from a bite could be worse though.

The Industrial Plant I worked in used Steam Heat to (warm / dry) up the air to protect the Warehouses & production areas.
On Weekends when the plant was down. Insects do not like to be very warm and also very dry. Sort of stuffy monday mornings.

The Canadian Armed Forces spent a lot of money testing various anti mosquito sprays, lotions, and creams over a period of years. The test results showed that the best anti mosquito product is one with 35 percent DEET in the formula. They buy it by the case, and distribute it to all CAF members who are going to be working "In the field". The brand name is Musk All , in the spray can. Obviously you MUST use it cautiously, and READ the label instructions carefully.

Some people may not know this, but the color of the clothing you wear CAN attract mosquitoes, and in heavy concentrations of mosquitos, head nets and bug vests are helpful. Canadian mosquitoes are large and voracious in season. The worst type of flying insect is the Deer Fly, which actually bites a chunk of skin from it's victims, not just puncture the skin like a mosquito. JIM.

I use Ranger Ready. Work good and even repels black flies.

I used to slather myself with Avon's Skin-So-Soft bath oil to repel no-see-ums. It worked better than anything else, which is to say not all that well, but better than nothing. Couldn't stand the smell, though and of course being all oily, everything stuck to me.
@jujube, Skin-So-Soft was the best I've found for mosquitos & flies. We still use it. I just bought a can of Off for ticks & everything else, but that one smells really strong.

Must be something in each person's body chemistry. Skin-so-soft never worked for me. This Jergen's, though, works fine...at least so far.

Jergens Cherry Almond sounds & smells a lot better than Deep Woods Off.

That said, most years I don’t have mosquito issues around the house and barn. I have Purple Martins and this year they blessed me with at least 20 kids. Those kids need to eat and they like mosquitos 🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

Very interesting. I would think those scents would attract mosquitos. Well as the old Excedrin commercial said "If something works...that's what you use". So besides repelling mosquitos, do you like the fragrance? I was going to mention the Avon Skin So Sofe, but see that it didn't work for you.
