Perhaps time will tell if you're right. It seemed that way with labor saving devices, and now obesity in America is taking a heavy toll on the health of the population because people no longer work as hard as they used to. Smart technology is still too young to determine long term consequences, but I still think it's cause for concern. I don't know.
 

I have always preached about how critical resourcefulness is in life, thinking and learning are major aspects of becoming resourceful. In my opinion if we aren't exercising our brain not only does our intelligence suffer but our ability to navigate our lives suffers. What you learn today may be utilized hundreds of ways during your lifetime.

I have this crazy picture of a future where schools have mind exercise classes. One period a day kids go into a room sans electronic devices and work on puzzles or play board games, or simply put round pegs in round holes and square pegs in square openings.

I have always said (and stand by it) that just because something *can* be done with technology doesn't make it a good idea to do it. I think I started saying it around the time autonomous cars were starting to get some traction in the "possibly in the future" news.

:) Yes, but what may blindside us is the quality of the food the 1.4% are providing, and we are consuming, not to mention the medicines.

Yes. I was thinking of future generations, not of us. We're idiots. There are higher worlds to explore, higher growths of the soul,
a multiverse of infinite possibilities, creations we can't possibly even conceive from out lowly perspective.
As Elon said, we MUST have regulations on this new technology!
I don't know the reason for this integration of technology on society at this time, but I don't think mankind is of the intelligence to handle it
correctly and utilize it to enhance humanity, at this point, (where we are now).
We always think of future societies as having greater intelligence and higher capabilities than ourselves. Maybe they will!
It's coming too fast. I don't think we can handle it yet.
If technology freed up the mind for higher pursuits into the limitless possibilities of the mind and soul, space, creation,; it would be great
but we are not ready for this leap yet. We are in our infancy.
 
Ok, I think I just went back in time 50 years. :censored:

This old lady is going to get in her car with all the cameras and safety features that tell me someone is coming when I back up, keep me in my lane, the auto braking that keeps me from hitting the fool ahead of me and navigate my way to lunch. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, it seems logical that if something else thinks for you, then you eventually lose the ability to think for yourself.

At a personal level of course we will. Just hope I die at about that time, no interest in losing mind before body.

As to all the electronic gadgets, I don't think so. I believe they make our brains more efficient, that's been true since the invention of technologies like language, writing, the abacus and so on.

Hopefully more of that improvement will go into good things, and not too much into video games.

Well, perhaps given enough time we may evolve into something more cerebral and expansive, but given how we are polluting the planet and polluting our bodies, I think we had better hurry.
 
The mind exercise classes in schools that C50 was talking about? This will be a NECESSITY! Thank Heaven!
Children will be taught to develop clear, strong, positive thought and send this out into the atmosphere
to influence and radiate to the entire world! Miracles will begin to occur!
I KNOW this will one day happen!
Physicists will study the connection of the soul and the mind of humans. This will happen!
Molecular manipulation from thought! This will happen!
if you knew the POWER of thought, you would be IN AWE!

I think technology will only magnify what already exists in individuals. The lazy and not too bright will get lazier and dumber. Hard working and intelligent types will use technology to accelerate where their curious mind is already going.

The simplest example is the 4 function calculator. No more cipherin' in your head. You get a result quicker so you can continue.

It is interesting, and I am happy to see my home state, Louisiana, is above Mississippi, but not by much. We were 49th...

I am not sure how meaningful our measurements of IQ are.

Good point, I was in college when the first calculators became available to students. I started school before that, only had a slide rule. I was convinced the calculators were just a fad, would never last, my slide rule did everything I needed. Appears I may have been wrong...
 
Sometimes, it depends on DNA and generational family's illnesses. However, using cheap Teflon pans of which coating is flaking into food, causes all kinds of health problems which my cause mental problems. That's all I heard about my Mother's health after her death into her autopsy.

It's not just flaking, Supernatural, Teflon is in the blood of every human on the face of the earth, so I have read from a reputable source, whose name I don't recall, but I'm sure can be googled.
