Will You Be Alone at Christmas ?

I have spent my share of holidays alone over the years. It was kind of sad, but still way better than spending it with family who made me feel "less than" them, if you know what I mean. Since I have no children, my biological family can take a hike. Now, I spend holidays with my chosen family.

I rather enjoy being alone. Sadly, sometimes it's hard to convince others of this fact. The wife is working Christmas Eve, we're hoping to find out today if she's working Christmas day, half day or what. I'm ordering the Honey Baked Ham today and pick it up next Friday. Next year will be easier, the wife won't be working over the holidays then. Retirement is a wonderful thing I say .

I was alone last year while I lived on the Big Island. This year my new friend/significant other/spousal equivalent and I will be enjoying a Christmas Eve Buffet at a very nice restaurant. Christmas Day we'll stay home, she can call her son, I can call my son and my brothers and my parents. A good, quiet day.

I'm not sure if I'm staying home or going to my brother's for Christmas. If I go I hope I can bring Suzy. I should be able to as others have dogs there. If I should stay home I'll be with my "fur and feather kids" so won't really be alone. I wish this time of year weren't dragged out for so long.
