We grew up with pet rocks, Rubik's cubes, and other fads that had no real benefit to society. Now there are fidget spinners that are being banned from schools, understandingly, and have become an obsession of kids... What other things do you remember in the same category? May God save us all.....

What is sad and yet a HUGE LESSON to be learned by everyone is that these Spinners were originally invented by an average Mom 20 years ago and worked at trying to market them for years. Then she let her patent run out because she couldn't afford the $400 to renew it. Meanwhile, someone else stole her idea. She isn't getting a penny for them. Shark Tank said, this is a lesson to maintain your patent...don't let it run out!!

I had to Google Fidget Spinners to find out what they are. The Slinky that I keep on my desk seems to be much more entertaining, and the plastic eyeball that rolls and spins. There a few more silly items for "nervous hands" located around the house.

I think the spinners would be a distraction in the schools, just as a Slinky would, or a rolling "Glass Eye Ball".

The bigger the fuss made by adults over the fidget, the more kids will want them. Isn't that always the way it is ?

Anyone see the TV show The Toy Box ? ... some pretty weird ideas people have for new toys.

Probably. I remember hula hoops and batman stickers. Just another fad.
