Will you get a flu shot this year or next?

I never get the flu shots. One year when I was half way considering it, I found out that the efficacy wasn't that great, so I didn't bother. I decided I'd try keeping my immune system boosted instead and keep away from people exhibiting symptoms. Years ago I used to get colds from my then young (youngest) grandson and my husband who was always shaking hands and talking to a lot of people. After I got on a steady regimen of zinc, I stopped getting them (or they'd be mild and last only a couple of days).

My grandfather died from complications of the flu. He took the shot a few years earlier and claimed it gave him the flu. Wouldn’t get another one. Ironic.

as I stated above, it was 1972, at least I think it was that year or maybe 1971, that I got a flu shot and that flu shot made me so sick. I missed four days of work.

years later, I can’t remember where I was, but I was sitting beside a retired nurse, and we got to talking somehow another about the flu shots back in the day. She told me that there was a bad batch of flu shots that somehow got on the market. She explained the logic behind that but by now I can’t remember exactly what she said.

At any rate, if you got sick from flu shots somewhere in 1971 or 1972 you probably got the same batch of vaccines that I got that made you deathly ill and I also said never again.

When I was working at the hospital, I took the flu shot every year. Employee health gave them for free.

Never had the flu. After I retired, I went to CDC and found the flu shot the previous year had 40% efficacy. Didn't take it. A couple of years later, I had it because I was caring for my three month old grandson. That year I was very very sick.

Haven't had one since, especially not the covid vax. I did have a cold (I believe) a few years ago. No big deal.

That would be about right. He passed in Dec ‘74. Maybe he got the bad batch from earlier. I didn’t get any flu shots in the ‘70s. I worked in a hospital, but they didn’t require it. Did have to get TB tests though.

No, I felt like a pin cushion the whole time I was in the military which I admit was a while ago, still, I didn't have a choice then but I do now. It's just the wife and I and like me, she no longer sees the value in them either. To each his or her own and kudos to those of you that see the benefit. Different strokes I say. :coffee: Don...

No flu or covid vaccines ever. Since all this crap started about 6 years ago, I've had the flu or whatever 4 times. The first time really sucked, pretty much nonfunctional for 4 days, feeling weak for 10 days after. Damn that was miserable, but no issues with breathing or vitals. The next 3 times were a little easier, 2 days down, but not completely nonfunctional, just pretty miserable and then weak for about 4 days after.

The last time was just 5 days ago, but went to work the last two evenings anyway(y)
Managed to keep participating on this forum throughout:ROFLMAO:
Going to run tomorrow, that should be a fun challenge...

How do you feel about Flu shots?
I haven't taken the flu shots in many years, and I haven't had the flu. Early this year I took a pneumonia shot, since most people who die from the flu, die from pneumonia. Next, I plan on getting a flu shot along with the latest Covid booster. I also had a Covid booster early this year.
